For those of you who were glued at their incision sites. How long did the steri strips stay on? I am so ready for mine to come off! They are about half way now but very annoying. I am a week and 1 day post op.

I had this funky stuff on my stitches. By 3 weeks they were all off. I did not pick at them, but let them go away on their own time.

I was sleeved the same day as you, and my steri-strips are still in place. My doctors said that they would come off when they were ready to come off, and not to rush them or pick at them.

I don't know how long they'll actually stay on, but I was told a little over a week, maybe longer.

My dr pulled mine off at my first follow up. 10 days. They were so sore for a day and the the air helped heal them pretty quickly.

Soon after I posted this I went to change into my pajamas and one of my steri strips got stuck ad ripped off. Ouch! The incision looks ok though. The others are starting to stick to my clothes too.

My strips stayed on for about 2 1/2 weeks, and then I pulled them off the rest if the way. When I was in the shower I just made sure that they got soaked. No problem.

I was told to wait at least 6 weeks before swimming. The skin at the incisions is healing and weak and germs and bacteria can seep into the weaker areas. Ask your doc before you start swimming.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
