Hi Sweethot! Welcome!

Where in Germany are you stationed? We were in Hahn and in Spangdahlem and I went to school in Bittburg. My dad was military and my mom is German - in fact, I have an uncle who lives in Frankfurt.

Keep us updated how things are going!

Welcome Dawnae!

This is quite a journey you will be going on! Let us know if you have questions.

We are by no means experts, but we may have had the same questions too.

I think the best thing is knowing there are others in the same situation here to support you.

Auntie Aud, I live in Spangdahlem! Well a village outside of it, between bitburg and spang on the B50. We have been here about 3 month and just love it! How did you like it?

I'm not in Utah either, but did attend BYU years ago. Still have an "Old" roommate living in Draper. I do miss the mountains in the fall. They were so beautiful.

I had my surgery in June and have lost about 35 lbs so far. NO problems to report.

Terry :)

I absolutely loved living there! We lived off base too, in a town called Minderlittgen. I remember us being so happy when we lived there. That's why I love Utah so much, it reminds me of Germany.

Hi Terry!

I'm in Riverton - just west of Draper. I have great friends who live in Draper off of 123rd South.

You are so right, the mountains are beautiful in the fall. I also love them right now, when they are covered with snow.

Congratulations on your surgery and how well it's going!

Can I join the U-crew? Its nice to gather with some people that know of the unique Utah culture. I haven't met Dr. Hansen other than the originally informational meeting, but not personally. I have sooo many questions for him during my consultation. I'm really hoping they are easy to work with...I have heard good things about them.

MYPOV-:welcome: Dr. Hansen is great. You will see him just before surgery and remember to write everything down. I always say I need to write down my questions and then I forget and leave without asking everything.. Where do you live in Utah. I am from Orem. If you want unoffical answers let us know.

mypov: Dr. Hansen is great and he is very good about answering questions. I would definitely write everything down because there were lots of questions I forgot to ask and then remembered after my appt.

Here are some of the things I've been eating. I like to vary things...I hate eating the same thing everyday. I'm still blending a lot of stuff up. I'm having trouble getting enough Fiber in...any suggestions?

Breakfast: Cream of Wheat, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit smoothie or cottage cheese

Lunch: Soup, chili, canned tuna or chicken

Dinner: refried Beans with melted cheese, Soup, black Beans

Snack: pudding with unflavored Protein powder mixed in, 1/4-1/2 soft Protein Bar (Peanut Butter Balance Bar is my favorite), Protein shake, applesauce, cheese stick

YEah actually I've been keeping a notepad file on my computer and as I read lapbandtalk if I think of questions I type them up. Watch me forget to print it and bring it on my consultation day :) I live in the Logan area. I think my main questions are:

1- Should I plan on going all the way home the day of the surgery or should i stay in a hotel nearby in case of complications?

2-What should I do if I have concerns over the holiday, will I be able to get in touch with anybody?

and my main concern:

Will I lose weight wiht my PCOS??? I don't know how many women he's banded that have it, but I hope it doesn't hinder my progress.

Oh and actually I am curious of what his stats are now (went to the info meeting over a year ago) like how many he's banded, how many slips, removals, erosions etc

And if there are different size bands or just one that he uses

lol okay ill stop.

Good to hear from you all!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
