My nausea is fine except for when I first wake up. Anyone else feel that way?

Yes, I am the same way! I am usually nauseous until I can get some liquids down... I usually sip Water while my daughter is eating Breakfast and start to feel a bit better by the time she's done!

YES I've been feeling like this since surgery, which was 9 weeks ago. I can't think about eating or drinking anything for a few hours after I wake up. Afternoons are great, but the mornings .... ugh.

I used to feel that way and then I started drinking a Protein Shake about 1 hour before bed and no longer feel nauseau in the morning. Give it a try - might work for you too! Good Luck!

11 months out and I get nausea a lot all during the day and night. Too empty, too full. Some things just don't sit well. Protein Shakes feel good everytime so I sip on them when I feel nausea and it helps for a little while. I had/have acid reflux and I take daily meds for it. Could be contributing to the nausea. I feel like I have a big pit in my stomach most of the time. Don't know how else to describe it. Maybe eventually this will go away along with my hair!

You lost all your hair??? Did you have a hard time getting Protein in?

I only feel nauseous when I first wake up. Once I drink something I feel fine! I am sorry you feel that way often! :(

I am 12 wks out and having a problem with very time I eat I feel nauseated and like the food is coming right back up my throat for a good 20 mins after eating or drinking anything. I am 8 wks pregnant so maybe this has something to do with it? I dunno. I'm just so uncomfortable :(

Thanks for the idea - I too am nauseous until my tummy wakes up - or at least I thought so. I'm not sure I'll have enough calories to allow for a Protein Drink before bed (mine are 160 calories) but of course most days I do. I was thinking it was because it empties out overnight that getting in Water or juice wakes it up, I take my ppi then about 1/2-1 hour later I eat breakfast. Seems to be working so far.

PS...I like your Andy Dufrane reference!

Hi,my dr advised me to drink more in the evening to prevent the nausea in the morning as slight dehydration because we dont drink for a long time while sleeping very often causes nausea first thing in the morning.

Better yet, take a few sips of Water when you go to the loo during the night.I actually drink almost 15oz of Water during the night now.

It works like a charm for me.

Oh, it's linked to dehydration! I was thinking because it was empty for so long. Makes total sense. Thanks.

i, too still have days with nausea. even wake up around 2am with it. it has gotten better. fluids help. my sleeve was 7-24-12. trying for all orals - no tube feedings for 14 days now so hopefully it will be removed early dec or late november. my stomach still hurts when i eat - about 80% of the time - it passes though. and my doc agrees that i need to just push through the discomfort so my esophagus remembers how to function. you will find your groove with your triggers and aids....give it time. trial and error i guess. i still wear a scopalimine patch.....i swear it helps. i was in bed for 38 days so i think being upright now that i am home triggers nausea with certain movements. keep us posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO, Not all my hair but a lot of it. Enough that I'm wearing wigs. No I can drink the Protein drinks just fine. I drink the ones from costco that have 30 grams of Protein per serving.

I have found the same being nauseous in the morning. I try to have my shake as soon as I get up and even though I am not really interested in having it once I start sipping the nausea goes away and I enjoy the shake.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
