If it's a full liquid your Dr Office should tell you. But on mine I ate low fat cottage cheese, sugar free jello/ pudding, instant oatmeal, strained Soups.< /p>

Thank goodness I didn't have to do a liquid diet preop because as far as I am concerned there is no way to feel satisfied/not hungry on it presleeve. I have done them in the past though and after about 3-4 days of hell I was pretty much numb to it... so I have a grit your teeth and get through it approach.

Every surgeon is different, I had a 2 week very low carb liver shrinking diet. Even that was hard and I was eating real food.

so, 11 months out I still sometimes have a Protein drink for a meal and continue to be amazed that it actually satisfies/fills me up! It is great to no longer own a bottomless pit for stomach.....

Anyway, sorry I am not much help but wishing you the best as you embark on this process!

This is day 6 for me and i have been fine. the high Protein Drinks are very filling. I use Unjury . My diet consists of 8 oz Protein Shake for Breakfast, one for lunch and a pre selected 330 calorie ,low carb, high Protein frozen dinner for dinner. I drink propel Water in between, lots of it. I can have sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicle if I need. the 6 days have gone by very fast and the good news is i lost 7.2 lbs already ! I'm looking forward to weighing again in the morning !

I am on pre op liquid now, I am going to Mexico so it is a little different, the final 3 days before is supposed to be Clear Liquids only. On the plain liquid phase, I did Isogenix, I would have a shake for breakfast, then a protien and salad (no carbs) for lunch, and a shake for dinner. The first week was the worst (I've been doing it for a month), and then today is my first day of clear liquids only. I had lots of tea, and an Isopure pre mixed apple melon drink (it tasted like bitter koolaide going in, and the after taste was like fat free milk, VERY wierd), and am about to have beef broth and another iso pure for dinner. Amazingly I don't feel hungry at all, and I've lost 18 lbs so far (in the month). My advice, find a Protein Shake that you can stand, and just go for it! You can always have an extra shake if you need, many of them are very filling actually. Also, I personally could not stand to wait for dinner to eat my 'solid' meal, so I just had it for lunch everyday. Good luck!

the key to lowering the hunger pains is low carbs high Protein. I also drink Unjury. It is pretty good for a Protein Drink. preop diet is not easy.. Just do the best you can.. Once you have surgery it gets a little easier, or at least it did for me

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
