Question For Ex-Banders Who Are Already Post Sleeve. Need Your Pov! Since You've Experienced Both What Are Your Thoughts And Experiences?

oh i am so jelous. my band is at 2 cc and I am hungry but already having trouble tolerating Proteins and if i go tighter it will backfire.

I understand the feelings of jealousy. I was banded in 2009. It was horrible because most times I was hungry and the only food I could tolerate were slider foods, that put the weight on. in 2011 my DIL had a sleeve, she was a little heavier than I was and less than a year after her surgery she looked great. She could eat what she wanted, but less of it and seemed so happy with her WLS choice. I couldn't believe that I had made such a mistake, but felt it was too late to do anything about it. I stuck with the band for many months later, while she continued to lose weight, I either gained it or would be vomiting most of the time. The worse thing .. most people don't think I eat a lot of food anyway, but I gain weight with no problem. I recently revised on 12/26 so my "new" weight loss journey is just beginning. I am praying that I will be more sucessful with the sleeve. Right now I am feeling a little hungry, but not able to eat more than a few sips of this or that at a time.

That's the thing, my banded friends say I should not remove my band but I am an emotional eater and I have no control and got a band to help with satiety but its not working. I am gaining weight, eating and the band is letting me, I feel so stupid, my friend came to visit me today and she is on no carbs diet and feeling great, she is not doing it for weight loss. I can't do that, if I have to control me I won't succeed. Is that bad? I don't know but t is what it is

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
