I feel ya...eating has become a chore now vs a pleasure as it once was. If eating wasn't a requirement of existence I would probably just stop all together. My previously fav foods now have no taste or taste nasty to me. I still get head hunger' date=' go to eat what I crave and then want to puke cuz it doesn't taste good anymore. I'm only 9 weeks out though so we'll see if I ever get back to some semblance of normal somewhere down the road.[/quote']

Man thank god for these blogs I feel the exact same way. Almost 9 weeks out. U crave nothing!! Put my favorite foods in front of me I can walk away just so easy. During this time I have noticed the weight is falling off. 10 Pds last week. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Glad I'm not alone

She's had issues all her life. Belimic and anorexia. Stemming from a difficult childhood. She's not been "fat" but she still comes from a place where food was a primary focus one way or another.

Exactly, Bethany claims she was verbally abused as a chubby child by her mother. She was more than thin during her adult life, from what I've read about her. I just suggested the book because I like to learn about others prospectives. I respect Bethany because she was always about having good food that is also healthy. Her Skinnygirl Marguerita was one of many of her attempts to bring something everyone wants, but in a healthier version. For me, I feel more encouraged knowing that the so-called "naturally thin" girls really do work at! Why should heavy girls have all the fun in life!?! My sister has always been fit and trim. If I thought she ate whatever she wanted and never exercised to look like she does, I'ld be lying to myself. She's always exercised and watches her calorie intake. She enjoys Holidays and celebrations, etc. But she's back to business the next day! We are so alike, yet so different! My doctor said I will weigh less than her-promises, promises! (That would be awesome though!)

I now revel in the fact that I don't live to eat. I eat to live and no, eating is no longer fun but damn is it fun shopping in "regular" stores in "normal" sizes.......weighing less than my husband........my kids telling me "wow mom I can hug u all the way around now". Keep moving forward and u won't give two blips about how much u use to enjoy food....you'll be too busy enjoying your new body. BTW watching others pig out makes me sick......or reminds me of how I used to gorge- upsets me about myself lol

I have really been wondering about this. I'm only 5 weeks out' date=' but I've been on vacation for a week and have been eating in a lot of restaurants; Soup, fresh grilled fish, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. I almost dread meal time. Eating is not. "fun " anymore. It is more of a chore. Drinking is fine and no big deal. This may sound sick, but I hope it lasts. I'm tired of my life being ruled by food.[/quote']

Im with you! I hope i eat to live from here on out! Rather than the other way around, which is what i did before the surgery!

well I guess that's good.

I'm 7 weeks post-op and I can't eat "doughy" food (bread, Pasta, rice, pizza, red meat) if I try to, it just won't go down and I feel like throwing up. so I totally get what u mean. :)

I just crave popsicles and celery with low cal/sod peanut butter...OH AND string cheese!!!!!! :-D

I havent been sleeved yet but I think that happens too with the band ( IM GOING FOR A REVISION NEXT MONTH). I think because I dont want to throw up or get stuck I just dont really eat anything but slider foods. However, because of the band I dont like to eat ANYTHING... I mean just about everything I eat or even think about eating makes me want to throw up or just completely turned off by. The only reason I eat is so I dont end up passing out somewhere...smh..Even though im not in you ladies shoes yet I know exactly where your coming from.

It sounds to me like you are looking for your old life back. The days of wendy's burgers and fries should be over. Start working your sleeve and looking at new things to do instead of focusing on food: new hobbies' date=' exercise, friendships. You got this surgery to help you so please work it for all that it is intended. Best wishes to you.[/quote']

I disagree with the days of Wendy's being over! She managed to satisfy her taste without eating an 1800 calorie meal! That's one of the joys of the sleeve.. It allows you to eat like a normal person for a change!!!

The most significant change I have noticed so far is the ability to resist sweets about 90% of the time. I don't know if that will last. To say that I was obsessed with sweets would be an enormous understatement. I bought bread for family at Panera, looked at the brownies, Cookies and pastries and did not feel compelled to buy any of it, even though it had been 5 hours since I had eaten and only had 200 calories at that point (3:30 pm). This week during vacation I had no issues resisting Godiva chocolate, pie, mousse, etc. I did split a small creme brûlée with a friend and only ate half of the half. It was just too sweet and rich.

I feel the same way delta. I have had some sorbet, a little pannacotta, but both were at restaurants that were pretty high end and it was lower sugar than you'd get if you had it from a store...anyhoo, they were good, but I was satisfied with a few bites. I LOVED red hot candy, chocolate, ok I loved sugar and really...I have no desire right now. I hope that continues :) I think part of that is getting off of them during the presurgery diet...basically kicking my carb addiction :) Now they're a nice treat, but I don't want them constantly.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
