November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hey Angela--I wonder if your ex was getting insecure about your weight loss? That seems to happen a lot--they think that as long as we are overweight, we will not be noticed by anyone else, or start noticing other people. Like we should be thankful that they are with us because no one else ever would be. My DH has made several comments to be lately about me wanting to trade him in for a better model now that I am losing weight--which is rediculous, and I keep telling him that--but he has gotten very insecure--so much that he has started working out himself! But it sounds like you are better off without your ex, and maybe now, when the time is right you can find someone who will love you for who you are. Just hang in there and don't let your emotions drive you back to that place you don't ever want to go again! Good luck!

P.S. I do love this thread--you guys are great and give some excellent advice. And Tom--congrats on the new pants--I am in the same boat--nothing fits--yeah!

Did anyone else notice? November Bandsters are now in Onederland! Conniesueb's post was the first post on page 100!!!

Tom

prbrooksie,

Hey, you need to give yourself a break. Its a BIG change to get this surgery. You are LEARNING right now. Learning how to eat, or not to eat, what you can and cannot eat. It has only been what, 3 months for us now? You took how many years to gain all the weight? You need to give yourself a chance to lose it also. I think what has helped me THE most if I feel like eating and I am not hungry, or want to eat cake or something, is exercising. Not necessarily going to the gym right now damnit! But do some crunches, or some walking on the treadmill, or my bike or whatever it is that you can do at home. I prefer the crunches, because it hurts after a while. If my tummy muscles are hurting, I DON'T eat until dinner time. This may not work for you, you just need to find something that does. I think I am at my sweet spot for right now. I CAN overeat on some things, but I can control it now, whereas presurgery, I couldn't control how much I ate. I think with this fill, it has gotten rid of my cravings, I used to be a chocoate and sugar aholic. Now I can say no to those things, even when everyone else is having it. I had my first fill and I couldn't eat anything solid, so I was way overfilled. The next time I had only .2cc removed. And now I feel perfect. For some of us, the amount of fill is the key. I think I am lucky that I got it in two fills or unfills. As I lose weight, I may need more, who knows. Another thing that helps me, as I was self pay, is I say to myself, "how much money did I spend on this darn band? $16,000? Wow, I am NOT eating that today!" And I don't. You WILL find little things that help you along. I think I have traded eating for exercising. Maybe I still have an addiction, I have just changed it to something healthier.

You are doing great. And you're 5'10"! I am only 5'6", and started out at 237. I didn't look all that bad for as much as I weighed, and you have 4 inches more! You will lose that weight, just keep trying. It will work.

Kristi

It has been awhile since I have had even a second to post. I am glad a lot of you are still here, and nice to see new ones as well. Everything with my band is going well. I have my 2nd fill tommorrow. I am not sure if I need it though, because sometimes, I have a hard time getting down even a packet of oatmeal, and then other times, WATCH OUT!! I will ask. Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes it is tighter than others?

Thanks for the help.

Peace Out!

I'm finding that keeping 4 32 ounce bottles of Water in my fridge helps. When I want to binge eat, I grab one of those and tell myself that if I still want something after I finish the bottle of water, then I must be hungry and I'll get something. Then I'm off somewhere with my water and have forgotten about food by the time I finish the bottle.

Way to go, Angela!!! :clap2: You are doing so well.... why do you need a fill? I think you should keep doing as you are, and save the fill for when you hit a long plateau or start getting so hungry you begin to overeat. That is my opinion, but what do I know?? I am not having such good luck with my band as you!!

You are doing great!! Are you doing as well emotionally....with all the other changes going on??? I'm pulling for you!!!

:) Karen

Good going. Do you mind if I ask what your eating.. what anyone is eating. What does a daily food journal look like?

Misty

if you scroll down the messages you will find that info... if you go to around feb. 3-6? you will find lists of what people eat :)

I had a great 2 weeks after my 3rd fill...feeling super restriction. It's less now. And I'm not gaining or losing at the moment.

Wow Angela, I just checked out your my space and it is soooo cool. I loved the slide show and the dolphin page. You are so lucky you have lost so much so fast. I can't get down past 30 pounds. I am happy that I have lost weight but I keep going up and down threw the 220's. I already had a fill and it was real tight for awhile so I don't want to go get another for awhile. What do you suggest? I am exercising a lot and I have lost a lot in my thighs and my waist is starting to slim down. I just want to get to Onederland so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:think

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
