Hey PRE-Banders...!

Recommended Posts

I am really looking forward to the day I have enough confidence in my appearance to get out into the dating world again. I feel like a cloistered nun! And it will be nice to have some flattering clothes to wear when I do.

I look forward to being able to get pregnant and looking CUTE when I have my baby belly - not just FAT.

I look forward to wearing clothes which don't come from a plus sized store!

I look forward to being able to walk and exercise without worrying about my asthma!

Iknow this sounds silly, but I can't wait to have bra and panty sets that match. You know, the really cute ones with flowers or lace or at least pretty colors instead of boring beige or white bras and whatever pair of panties was in the drawer. I really want ones that are cute sets!

Me too! I can't wait to buy that lacey sexy stuff in the big department stores instead of the unsexy granny stuff I've had to wear and order out of catalogs all my life (no offense to all the grannies out there...:) )!

I'm so excited. I went to my seminar Saturday, I have all my paperwork filled out, now I'm just waiting on my appointment date to have consultation. I am going to a support meeting tonight, I can't believe I'm on my way to being banded!

I'm looking forward to tucking my shirt in my jeans, my thighs not rubbing together making the swish swish noise when I walk, not counting the heat rash I get in the summer.

I'm looking forward to someone saying, you look good! Or, you don't need to loose any more weight, or calling my skinny!

I'm looking forward to shopping in the regular sizes, and buying some "low rise" jeans! Maybe even a cute midriff shirt (yes, I'm dreaming big).

I'm looking forward to tying my shoes without needing an inhaler.

I'm looking forward to crossing my legs like a real woman, not like a man.

I'm looking forward to hearing the men whistle at me again - haven't had that in YEARS.

There are so many reasons I am getting the lap-band, and yes, some of them are for vain reasons, but my health is the number one reason.

One thing that I'm looking forward to when loosing weight; being able to take advantage of all these AMAZING after holiday sales on clothing.

Do you know how torturous it has been, being out shopping with my Mom all week and not being able to buy anything for next Christmas to wear? I mean, I can't even GUESS at what size I'll be. I passed up an awful lot of UNDER $10 items I'd normally kill for to buy in my CURRENT size. I only bought shoes. lol:girl_hug:

Sweetheart, enjoy those shoes while they fit because they won't for long! Yes, even your feet will most likely shrink. I've gone from a 9/9.5 to a solid 8.5 - and I'm only 2 months post-op! It's great to buy things on sale but it's also a great feeling buying something in a misses size at full price BECAUSE IT FITS!!!!

I can notice the difference when I wear heels too!

Congratulations on your decision and good luck! :)

~be a healthy mom and wife

~be a hottie mom and wife lol

~cross my legs without them going numb

~wear cute undies and bras

~coach my sons soccer team

~be able to wear those cute victorias secret sweat pants!

~be able to walk by lane bryant cuz their stuff is too big for me

My health is my #1 reason for this surgery.

And of course everything else that goes along with that.....riding bikes with my kids, hiking, cross-country skiing, when the kids ask to go to the local swimming pool,

I will say YES every time and not make up some lame excuse. Wearing one of those cute baby-doll strappy tops all the skinny girls wear. Shopping for clothes without sobbing in the dressing room. I'm 4'11" and nothing looks good when your 200 lbs.

My husband's favorate "positions", and keep it going without leg cramps! You get what I'm saying.

Actually getting out of the boat, go down the ladder, proudly showing my new little behind to go swimming at the lake.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
