I'm nov 12th too! I'm having a hard time trying to avoid the "last meal" syndrome. Do you have to do a pre op diet?

Hey folks...I'm sleeved! Everything went well yesterday. Very little pain and no nausea, just really sleepy. I'm going for my barium swallow test soon. I hope it goes well so I can finally drink something. So far my recovery has been remarkably smooth. I hope it is/was for everyone here!

Hey KansasFan - I am on Protein drinks for two weeks. All clear liquids would be very hard.

For those of you who had surgery this week - how did it go?

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was a little rough for me, trying to get liquids in and all. Paranoid about dyhyrdration. Doing much better today got a lot more liquids down and I can even lay on my stomach for short periods of time (with only a little discomfort). Oh and I don't need the pain meds.

Gabby,

Sounds like you're doing really well considering the huge surgery you just had a couple of days ago! I hope I'm off pain meds 4 days after! But I'm sure you still feel a little rough. Good luck for continued comfort and success! Can't wait to hear more as time goes on!

How is everyone. I am starving! That's my only complaint. Can't wait to start some normal foods Thursday. I hope this is just head hunger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
