Sleeved 10/9/2012

Recommended Posts

Just got home today and feel so overwhelmed. My doctor doesn't want me to take gas x strips and I feel completely swollen and full of air. I've been walking a lot but when I try to sleep I get pain in my stomach area. I felt like I was so prepared before surgery and now I feel lost and scared to make the wrong choices. Any advice?

Just keep walking as much as you can. Try to sleep in a comfortable position if you can find one. And your pain meds are your friend. If they didn't give you any call and ask for a script for some if it's bothering you this badly.

Why would your Dr not want you to take gas x strip?? My husband took them after his lapband surgery, I was prepared to take them after my sleeve, but didn't need them.

He said he wants my system to work its way naturally. I have pain meds which help but I just might take one if it gets worse. Overall the surgery went very well. I think I'm just a little freaked out that I finally had the procedure done.

I know it sounds hard, but you need to walk as much as possible and that will really help the gas pain.

I know how you feel!!! I was sleeved 10/03 it will get better! I felt the same way! Walk as much and I would do around the clock pain med for the 1st 48 hours after surgery yes letting your body take care of it is nice idea, but not all the gas was made from our on body:-) 4 gasex stripes will help! Keep trucking along!

My doctor wouldn't let me have Gas-X either. Most of the gas was gone after two days but I had one stubborn gas bubble that was really painful & stayed 5 days. Walk, walk, walk. The pain meds helped. So did warm showers (careful not to get your incisions wet) putting pillows behind my back helped too. But besides walking the thing that really helped was having a family member pat my back. Sounds weird, I know, but it worked. I was sleeved on 9/11/12.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
