Oh my goodness, yes, more fill for you! Lol. But at this stage dont fret, it IS normal to be able to eat that much. It takes good fills for good restriction. My guess is that you have virtually no restriction yet. Stick with it, it can take time.

I would consider my band loosish as I can eat a sandwich on thin bread, but quarterpounders and such, way too "dense" to eat comfortably, I'd probably feel very full after a few bites. I can *just* handle a cheeseburger (and I suspect like all things our cheeseburgers in Australia are smaller than yours, as all our fries sizes are), if I'm really forced to as I was on a long drive recently (kids, bah, do they ever want to eat anything else?). But boy, I was full. No possibly hope of fries or a drink on top of that. I woudlnt even feel remotely tempted nowadays.

You will get there!

I was told by the doctor that I would only be able to hold about 4-6 oz of food without being very full. I cheated on my diet last week and was still able to eat a whole quarter pounder with cheese, fries and drink from McDonalds. Is that normal? I have only had 1 fill and am wondering if I need a lot more to decrease the size of my stomach. I lost 20 lbs between the time right before my surgery and the month following it, but I have not lost anything else since. I guess that is 1 reason why I cheated. I was under the impression that after surgery I would fill up VERY quickly and remain that way until it was time for the next meal. Any advice would be very appreciated as I am very frustrated!!!!

When were you banded? Have you had a fill yet? Some of this I know is just our own control. Therefore, I guess you will need to try to fill up on other things.

I'm like you Eficka...I'm usually about 800 - 1000 but on a bad day I'm much more. My 4th fill just kicked in and I haven't been able to eat much the last few days. I'm finally having to learn to eat the "banded way". Small bites, slow and chew chew chew. My weight loss has been very slow since being banded because I never had any restriction.

Same here, I haven't lost much since I have not had much restriction since I've been banded. I have lost about 26 lbs and very slow weight loss. Hopefully my 4th fill in 2 weeks will do it.

im the same way. i was losing great before the band now it seem sorda slow. i think becuz i was not following the plan to a tee. but, its been 2days now and i seem to be doing good and have great restiction. at least the pressure in the back of my throat has went alittle. im gone try and hang around 1200 calories or less. i now feel the pressure in my chest if i eat to much or to fast i never felt it before. an a warm like sensation in my tummy. i think that is going to help me not eat so much. so we will see how it goes.

Huse,

All you need is a fill or two. don't give up and try to rember that even though you can eat it doen't mean you should. I am wondering if there is any food that you can feel your restriction on? If so eat those types of foods more. Also you have to remember DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING DURING OR AFTER MEALS FOR AT LEAST 45 MIN! This is a huge key that takes time and practice getting used to. when you drink with a meal or after you wash down the food that you really want to stay in your upper pouch for that full feeling we came down this road to achive. Good Luck!:)

I'll be 4 weeks post op on Tuesday. I started soft solid foods and I'm eating more calories now. I'm about 900 calories per day. Before I was eating 500 calories per day on mushies. I think my weight will come off faster now that I added more calories to my diet.

Good luck.

I'm curious why you will lose more when you're intaking more calories?

I was told by my surgeon to stay under 1200. I was only banded 2 weeks ago so I'm struggling to even make 800. My first few days on liquids I was only at 300-400. He said he doesn't want me under 800 because I won't lose that low.

I have been banded since May 29, 2008. My highest weight before the pre-op diet was 368. Getting the band was the best decision for me...I'm down to 154lbs. I feel amazing. The challenge is that throughout my journey I never even considered calories, just ate as they suggested, 6oz. total, 3 times a day. 4 oz. of that Protein, 1 oz. veggie, 1 oz. carb. (although, I routinely enjoy flavored Creamers, and sf/nf lattes..occassionally I eat an afternoon or evening low carb snack) Now, my surgeon says the max he wants me to lose is 6-7 more lbs. I'm so afraid to change what I'm doing and attempt maintenance--I don't even know how many calories I've been consumming. Thank you all for sharing your calorie counts!

ok So I started using the daily plate through Livestrong.. Well it told me in order to lose 2 lbs a week I needed to eat 2130 cal a day. I added what I had eaten today and it was only 1200. So what do I do? I am confused....

Me too! Daily plate said eat way more than I am. I'm wondering if that thing is way off? Then again, I've been getting about 1200 cal a day for the last 5 days and have not lost a pound. So now I'm wondering am I not eating enough and my body is going into starvation mode to hang on to what it's got? Ahhh! This is all so confusing!

I vary a little day to day. On Wednesday I ate a little over 600 calories. Yesterday I was a little over 800. If I don't start seeming a marked change in my weight in another week I'll bump it up to 900 and see if that'll keep my metabolism going.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
