Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Recommended Posts

Had my sleeve done on Thursday 10/11/12! Was the last surgery of the day...that was torture. First day my back really hurt when I took a deep breath, but that is better. Tired and a bit weak. The clear Liquid Protein is GROSS! The most I have been able to get down is about 20 gm. I am having the grape today and it is the best one so far.

Haven't had a bowel movement yet but my NUT said to wait 24 hours off all pain med and if still none then start taking Miralax. So we'll give it one more day.

She said as long as I am getting in 4 oz of Fluid per hour she is ok if I don't get the full 40 gm of Protein this week. I think I will be able to finish this grape Isopure today.

Have been walking but feel kind of claustraphobic in the house. Maybe feeling a bit sad? I think mourning the loss of the food, but certainly excited about the future.

I work from home and so I am going to try to do a little bit of work today.

Glad to be here on the loser's bench with you all!

I don't know what my problem is. I have gone 3 weeks on the pre-op diet and did really good. I have lost just shy of 20 lbs. Now, 1 week left and I want to eat everything! I haven't. Only took a couple of bites of my "famous" jalapeno potatoes yesterday, but I really want to eat. And I am not an emotional eater or anything like that. I thought it would get easier, not harder.

So today I went for my first post op massage. Before surgery I went once a week but I booked my massage 2 weeks after surgery so I could be able to lay on my tummy. Felt amazing! Just put a pillow under my tummy for comfort but probably didn't need it. Now one thing that I noticed was different..when she worked on my back I burped a lot! It was weird..I have never had that much gas before. I wonder if its possible to still have trapped gas 2 weeks after surgery. Was kind of embarrassing..but felt good to get it out lol

Hi. I was sleeved last night at 8:00pm! Mind you, I was scheduled for 2:30! We got to the hospital at 11:30, was brought into preop and hooked up to an iv and laid there until 7:30. CRAZY!! I didn't have anything to eat or drink since Sunday night. I went thru fits of laughter and fits of tears. As the time passed, nurses came and told me that everyone that was scheduled after me has been cancelled. My surgeon finally came out and said that the person scheduled before me took so much longer because of how large the hiatal hernia was. He said he was up to doing my surgery and had a room but wasn't sure if a team could be gathered and I asked if I could be scheduled for the next day and he said he was booked until Friday. I only had banked a few weeks of sick time at work and this would delay it by a week!

Thankfully (although how I was feeling around midnight I wasn't so thankful), my surgery happened. I've not hand gas pains yet (I'm told it comes day 3?) but it's EXTREMELY painful getting out of bed. The largest incision is where all the pain is. I've had bad headaches and I'm sure the pain meds are the cause. But, I'm walking the hallways. Tolerating Water and they just added apple juice. Tastes so good!!!

So, I'm hanging in there and looking forward to going home tomorrow. They just don't let you rest!!! Someone else coming in and out every 45 minutes.

A tray, hope to be glad to be in the other side of my surgery date. I know it'll get better, I just have to get through this part.

Good luck! Sounds like you went through a lot before surgery! I felt so bad for you! I was lucky-surgery at 9 am last Thurs. 10/11/12- but I was in recovery until 3:30-no beds available. I was fine but my family thought something went wrong! Scared everyone (but me!). At least you're getting water and apple juice before your upper GI. I was on ice chips only! Those swabs saved my life-CPAP machine was drying me out so bad-torture! Be sure to walk as much as you can - the burping will come but it helps you feel better. (so attractive!) Have a good night and best of luck tomorrow!

I kept down a sf Popsicle and some lemonade! I'll hopefully be going home tomorrow. I can't believe it's finally done!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
