EAT and I guarantee you will lose....your body needs fat' date=' carbs, etc. Sounds like your body is in starvation mode?...[/quote']

Yep- I think it was. So I am mixing it up and trying new things.

Are you exercising and drinking a lot of Water? Maybe you're retaining Fluid or gaining muscle if you're exercising. Hang in there! Maintaining is better than gaining.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I thought I was the only person in the world that could have WLS then not lose in the 2nd week. Yea! I'm not alone! My dr said to stay the course.

The exact same thing happened to me. 20 pounds in ten days then 2 1/2 weeks and not one pound lost. It just seem physiologically how could this be. 3500 calories is a pound. If we eat 1500 calories less a day and exercise we should easily drop 3-5 pounds a week. Not me! Went almost 3 weeks without a loss, but at least now at five weeks I started losing again.

Justine, the same thing happened to me but what helps is eating a wide variety of foods and 6 small half cup meals per day. You should not be counting calories starving yourself thinking you will lose more weight that way. Our bodies don't work like that. The less we eat the more likely your body is to hold onto it. The most important thing is to have professional help from a dietician until you are confident in your eating. I am 7 weeks post op and have had a couple of stalls, but they disappear when I am more vigilant about eating more. Good luck

Wow, you could eat a 1/2cup at 3-4weeks post op? I could only handle about 2oz of dense Proteins. Maybe 1/2cup of cottage cheese or something.

I can eat half cup and have been. I eat pretty much same things: Tomato Soup with melted cheese, refried Beans with melted cheese and cottage cheese. I take almost an hour to eat and have never felt "stuffed" because I have an agreement with myself never to puke ( I HATE PUKING). During this last week I had shredded pork and put it in a blender and that was only a few bites- probabaly closer to your 2 ounces. Maybe it's the type of food?

BTW- my stall broke. I'm down 6 More pounds from the stall and continue to lose :). I have such a long way to go though. My clothes fit so much better. I have to admit that I can't wait until I go down a size. Even that seems unattainable :(

Quite honestly- that will not happen. The scale keeps me motivated and there is not way in hell at this weight that I'm healthy. Well actually I AM healthy by all labwork and always have been but am at a major risk. For me it's not insanity - it helps me stay focused. What I do agree with' date=' though, is maybe picking a day and just weighing on that day. That's hard too but I will try. Thank you for your post.

That's what I do ! I weigh myself daily, like run downstairs as soon as my eyes open lol and check the number. But I only record it on mfp and on this forum Saturday's ! Works for me!

Me too! I wish I didn't - it's not a good thing. I weigh myself constantly. I wish I could take the scale away from me. Who am I trying to kid? I would buy a new one ;)

Yes, I did one week liquid, 2 weeks puree, 1 week soft food, then from week 4 normal food. I still stuck to softer things initially, but yes i get 6 x 1/2 cup eals per day. Lots of variety including dairy, fats, grainy foods, fruit, light vege, starchy vege and Protein. If we don't eat that often even in small amounts we won't get the nutrition we need and will get sick over time. We would also get tired. Takes a bit or forethought and some days I only get 5 serves in as I forget to eat, but overall its working well.

I weigh daily, but it doesn't drive me crazy. I know myself, when I don't weigh daily, it is the beginning of my weight denial phase. I have a long history of losing and regaining and I know exactly how that "regain" cycle feels and I just don't allow it. Weigh everyday, no stretchy waist bands, no excuses.

As far as the stalls - yeah, how annoying! It is sometimes helpful to think of monthly goals and look at the daily ups and downs, including stalls, as just that. Stay focused on a longer term horizon if you can!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
