Anyone From The Bay Area

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm currently in the process of meeting with surgeons to discuss surgery and what needs to be done before I get my date. I have gone to the classes and on Thursday I'm meeting with the surgeon and then I guess psychologist and nutritionist from what I was told all in the same day. The last class that I went to I was handed the book with information on all the types of surgery's I have decided to do the sleeve and feel very committed to doing this change I have two kids 4 & 2 and I want to be able to run and play with them without running out of breath... Lol I have taken the first step and have completely stopped drinking soda ' oh man that is hard but I figure I'm going to have to stop after surgery why not stop now right? Well I'm also really scared but know its all for the best and I'm glad I found this app and I can talk to people who are doing the same:-) I wish you all luck.

Alex

Hey, I'm in the bay area. I had my surgery at Stanford on July 24th. I cut out sodas months before the surgery as well. It was really hard. Nowadays I only crave soda because it has such a strong taste compared to my Water. I have sipped it a few times but it's so sweet and too carbonated to me now. It also doesn't feel great on the stomach. Good luck to you.

I had a lot of pain post-op but the drugs really helped. I would say about the 13th/14th day is when I felt normal again.

I feel pretty good food-wise. I feel like I can eat anything and drink anything as long as I take it slow. Of course I don't but I don't feel uncomfortable with food anymore.

I will be having my surgery at Stanford, just waiting to get my call to schedule the surgery. I already jumped through all the hoops and test needed. I was supposed to have surgery with Dr. Morton but he is full till January so I decided to switch to Dr. Rivas. Good luck with your journey.

Haha, same situation. I got switched from Dr. Morton to Rivas. He comes off as very nice and caring, knows what he's doing. He told me he's never had a patient with a leak so I'm sure your surgery will go great :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
