Freaking Out Surgery Is Saturday! Soooooo Nervous..

Recommended Posts

I am only nervous about what I am going to eat... not the actual surgery.

when shopping during lunch hour and it seems like everything is the stores are high sugar, high carbs, I have to shop super slowly to read all the labels to find the no sugar stuff. specailly since never shopped for those items before, so used just picking out the usual stuff. so of course I didnt buy anything because it was taking to long.. gonna have to go after work.

on top of everything I am usually a picky eater.. my main food source is BREAD!.. so not sure how I am going to choose better options. I dont really like yogurt and veggies.. so will see.

just venting a bit.. I am freaking out

When you get to solids, eat meat, cheese, Beans, nuts, fruit and eggs. Right after surgery I did 2 weeks clear liquid, 2 weeks full liquid and 2 weeks mushy/pureed. I don't know what diet you nutritionist recommended, but for full liquids there were Protein Shakes and yogurt mostly. You may as well try out different yogurts. Your tastes will have to undergo a bit of a change.

Oh wow I feel you. I'm 3 months out and Already nervous about what I will eat. I don't like lettuce Tomato pepper onion mayo mustarad any Salad Dressing and many other things. I usually live on meat and junk food like pizza fries burgers hot dogs. No wonder I'm obese!! When I've done diets in the past I've basically lived on grilled chicken and broccoli. I always gain it back probably because way to restrictive. I am super nervous.

H, Jen, just wanted to say that I feel the same way about breads, which is probably why I am the way I am! I am not going to worry about buying anything until I need it. Don't want to buy stuff now, and then not need it/like it. I figure later on I should be ok at work with Protein drinks, egg whites and yogurts and the like. We'll see.

Also, which hospital are you having surgery at? Valley? I am also in NJ, and my group is also out of Valley.

What really help: biotene for dry mouth, walking and to pee put my tounge on top of roof of mouth. Someone mentioned that on the forums here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
