Has anyone had the sleeve done and have Barretts esophagus? I think I have done to much reading on the forums today. LOL My gastro doctor and my endo doctor say having the sleeve will slow the progression of Barretts esophagus, by losing the weight and changing my eating habits. I worry because I read that so many people end up with reflux after the sleeve when they did not have it before. My esophagus can't take more acid reflux.

Looks to me like most sleeve surgeons think Barrett's is a contraindication for the sleeve. Check out the report referenced here and ask your surgeon and doctor about it:

Maybe someone else will know, but I thought they recommend gastric bypass over sleeve if you have reflux and related issues like Barrett's.

Thank you for the information. I am going to talk to my surgeon. From what I was told with the sleeve they are removing that part of your stomach that produces the acid with the sleeve as well. I am gonna see him next week. Thank you again.

Did you find anything out from your doctor about the acid reflux? I also have acid reflux and my doc has suggested RnY, but I would like to get the sleeve. Did you end up having surgery?
