I'm 21/2 weeks post op and I want to lose about 90lbs by my Birthday in January, so a little less than 6months. For those of you who have lost a lot and quickly how many calories a day did you consume, what was your secret for success? My nurse wants me to eat around 1,200 but it seems a little high and I don't think I can lose quick enough. I'm thinking that I need to keep it around 800-900 calories!

One year ago today my LapBand slipped and had to be removed and I gained 100lbs in about 9months. Gaining all that weight back crushed my spirt and sent me into depression. Honestly, I'm desperate to get the weight off and restore my life. Too late to worry about stretched skin I already have it. I just want to reclaim my life!

Personally, for me, I am eating a lot less than 1200 calories most days and when I do I don't see movement on the scale (just because having a hard time getting in the food, not trying to eat that little). However, on good days when I can get in my Protein and calories that's when I see movement. My understanding is when under 1200 calories my body thinks its starving and tries to hold onto everything it can. Not to mention - absolutely no energy when not feeding it fuel.

At 10 months out I try to stay at 1000 calories a day but many times it's closer to 1100. I'm losing slower now but it's still coming off. The first 6 months when I was closer to 800 calories a day it really came off fast but I needed more to eat after that. Good luck.

I'm eating 1250 calories a day per doctors orders and I've lost 112 lbs in just a little under 4 months. I do eat carbs but not starches, fried food or Desserts, and I exercise everyday.

But the thing is everyone loses at their own pace. You can't dictate how fast your body is going to burn the fat. The point of this whole thing for me is to be healthy. The numbers on the scale are just a byproduct of that. I could just shoot for a certain number but I would not be as healthy. Plus a fit physique always looks better than an emaciated physique.

If by January you look good and feel better about yourself it won't matter what the scale says.

Why not just focus on eating healthy and see where it takes your body? We all lose at very different rates, even if two people ate the same things they wouldn't lose the same. I just don't want you to get there and not have lost that much and miss the fact that you've still been successful. I know I can get tied up in numbers and really if we're getting healthier it's not worth the frustration the scale causes =)

I'm still around 700-800 calories a day, 6 weeks out.

My surgeon told me that the average weight loss over six months for bariatric patients is about 80 pounds. It seems to me you can get pretty close to your goals without doing anything extraordinary. But don't let the numbers mess with your head. Otherwise you're going to feel like you're on a diet The rest of your life

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
