October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Lisa and I was banded Oct.18th. I have lost 13# so far and I get my first fill Nov. 13th. I had my surgery on Wed. and went back to work on the following Monday. The first night was a little hard then I was ok after that. I have been eating regular foods for a week and I'm a little nervious because I don't have any restriction with the band yet. My Doctor told me that I would once I have my first fill. I hope so because I don't know how much longer my will power can hold out.

Raynie, I had the same kind of pain you were talking about and I got worried, thinking that my band had slipped. I called the Dr. and he told me that it sounded like it was gas, he told me to walk more and to take gas-X, it worked and I haven't had it since. I am excited, nervious and also looking forward to what this next year will bring. It is going to be an awsome year and I know that this is going this is going to work.

Lisa

Chicken leg, turkey leg, leg of lamb, husbands leg...

When you are on liquid/mushies it ALL sounds good!

Hahahha... I know how you feel... I am on day 16 of full liquids and EVERYTHING SOUNDS GOOD!! My husband made his "special" Supper SUpper last night, which I have always considered disgusting yuk... and it looked GOOD!!! Did they band my tastebuds too??

I was mad at the cat the other day and told him that he might taste good grilled with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy...... Hmmm... he has been avoiding me ever since.....

Lord HELP ME!!! 5 more days until REAL FOOD!!!! I will NEVER drink broth or SlimFast again!

Mushie is not bad. Things that are crunchy, hard to digest, that is bad. NO RED MEAT> too hard for the body on a good day.

I went to creamy Soups and mushy soups and mashed pot. They held me longer hunger wise but they also are SOFT> I also made a huge butternut squash, roasted it- gut it and put it in the fridge for a fast snack. It is a fall fruit and hearty but also soft. No breads, squishy things in the mush stage. I did fine. and am now almost one month out.

It is all about remembering to be soft on the tummy that is irritated and angry that you have "wrassled it" with a little plastic lasso. :)

Yes, Thinking about it too! BUT we have to be realistic in what we are going to eat and what we are not. A good thing to do is to decide before you go HOW MUCH OF WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO EAT AND STICK TO IT! If we eat too much and are uncomfortable and puke :) or PB or whatever then what we had was not worth it! IMHO

:faint: UMMM "...looking at liquid qet stuck..." How much did they put in? :help: I'm so scared I perfer to only eat once a day and liquid the rest of the day. I have my next appointment on the 28th AHHHH :cry Just thinking that they are going to poke my tummy So did they have to take another x-ray after they unfilled you? :) I think this is the one thing i don't like about the band that they have to poke you.

Well I was scared.... when ever a needle is around me, I tell them not to tell me when they are going to do it, because I will jump..... so I just try to calm myself down, and deal with the pain once I feel it....... I didn't feel it, it's weird even though you know they are going through your skin, it just felt like they put the needle in Gel...... So get this..... she pulls my shirt down and says, okay stand up, in front of the x-ray machine.... so as I'm getting up, she says, the needle is still in there so be careful...... I was like :faint: :faint: so as I'm standing in front of the x-ray machine, they give me the white stuff to drink... that's when I saw it get stuck... so she came and took some out, (remember the needle is still in... so I didn't need to get poked again)... so when she took some out, they gave me a little bit of Water to see if that helps it go thru... and it did.... so as I'm standing there, she comes around and pulls the needle out.......... (this sounds way worse than it actually felt)... again, I didn't feel anything.

my story probably doesn't help with the fear.... but I just figured I'd let people know how it happens, cause I went in without a clue.

oh and sorry it took me so long to respond

Joanne

It sounds like almost all of us have cheated a little.. I know I have.. I chew, chew, chew... so that things are mushy.. I have found a shredded bbq chicken at a local store.. 16 grms protein.. and it is yummy :hungry: .. I chew chew.. I also found at Cold Stone Creamery they have smoothies and you can add Protein to them.. I had the strawberry bananna smoothie with protein.. I could only eat half of the small.. but it was good.. it is made with sinless ice cream.. or sherbert..

Well I have been down on my self.. I have been stuck on my weight loss.. I think the mushies have stopped my weight loss.. So I have a follow up tommorow so I have been on liquids today to maybe jump start my weight loss again. I am walking 1-2 hours a day .. I think I need to start an exercise program.

Well I start back to work tomorrow. I had surgery October 12th.. It sounds like people who have gone back after 1-2 weeks have been very tired or sore.. so I am glad my Dr had me off this long..

I need some encouragement with my weight loss it is driving me crazy.. :help:

Linadu,

I had my surgery on October 18th as well and I'm looking forward to having my first fill on November 20th. I quickly lost the first 13 pounds, then had a sudden stop of weight loss. This last week I have been fighting with losing and regaining the same half pound.

I still get full after eating a small amount of food, but don't feel restriction like I think I should, but after reading through this site see that it's pretty normal before having your first fill because you really don't have much if any restriction at this point.

I was hoping to lose at least 15 pounds before going back for my first fill, but we'll see how it goes. I'm glad that my fill is going to be the Monday before Thanksgiving so I won't be able to over-do it. So far, nothing has made me sick, and I haven't really been as good as I should. I tried meat, but it's just too much effort to chew and chew and chew, so it hasn't been a big deal to just stick with chicken or tuna or grilled fish. My problem seems to be with bread, what can I say, I LOVE it and have been able to eat toast and other breads without problem, but I'm trying very hard to stay away from them.

Suger free popsicles have become my best friend.

oh boy.... I dont think i'll be eating tuna ever again. I had it yesterday no problem. Today I had it for lunch and it got stuck....hurts so bad...I wish I could have threw it up... but I calmed down (while hiding in the bathroom at work) and the pain went away. I has been two hours and I can still feel it sitting there but it doesnt hurt.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
