I am so glad to hear that you found another surgeon that you are working with now =) It sounds like this doctor's office is much more willing to work with you. Why is your insurance rejecting paying? Do they not cover bariatric surgery? I looked through the post, but couldn't find the reason. Is it something you could appeal? Since your new doctor's office seems more willing to work with you, maybe they'd be willing to help you appeal it.

Just got bad news from the doctor's office. Aetna has denied my claim and delayed my surgery for a month said they need more data. I complied with everything they wanted and now this. Called Aetna and was told I could appeal but it would take 30-45 days. After years of delaying this I'm ready but can't. Is this why I pay my premiums for someone behind a desk to deny my claim? This for something that could have been handled by a call to my doctor. I am angry and very disappointed.

Buplee, I am so sorry. I've been preparing for my VS for 4 months, and my insurance denied me, over and over again. So with Prayers, Care Card and savings, I'm doing it anyway. And here I am, I have a date. I would read others on here and how excited they were when they received their date and it is a feeling indescribable. So excited but a little scared. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow and then the next day liquids. I'M ON MY WAY!!!!! Tinad

Yay after all the drama, Tuesday I called another bariatrics surgeon and it was so easy. They offer financing, he will honor all that I have done, nutritionist, pulmonary specialist, bariatrics psycologist and he will see me the Sept. 11th and my surgery date is Sept.24th. Do I hear a Whoop whoop? Finally after 4 months. Thank you for all the encouraging replys.

Congrats and good luck! :)

Thank you TinaD,

I have bern going through this for most of the year. I am not giving up that easily and still hope to get approved for surgery next month. I wish you much success on your journey. Please keep us informed of your progress and I will do the same. You'll be just fine and will feel great after the surgery. Wish me luck on my next round with Aetna.

I met my new surgeon today, love him and his staff, from the moment I walked in...I was their first priority, now there were other ladies there and a gentleman and I am sure they were treated the same way. They did honor previous tests....laughed at the one test I had to pass. Going in knowing you are going to have 60~70% of your stomach removed I was worried. After speaking with surgeon and staff I was eased considerably. My new qualify of life starts tomorrow. I am thrilled. Today was hectic getting everything scheduled but since today was my last day for real food for a long time, my husband made me Breakfast in bed and since we were at the doctor through lunch and a hour drive from our home, we didn't get home until til 6pm. He bought all of my LIQUIDS that I start tomorrow and my very last Coke. I have a wonderful support group. Is there anyone haveing their surgery around my time? Maybe we can keep in touch and compare and support each other. My surgeon did say it was a very intense surgery and about a 2 week down time.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
