I'm the 28th, that's not real close but in a few weeks we'll all be in about the same stage of our sleevehood!

The 18th here. I believe there is a group already in place for each month. June sleevers, July sleevers and so on. Check for sure under forum speciality groups and join up!

Hi Shawnd,

Have you begun the soft food stage yet? I am supposed to start tomorrow. I'm trying to brainstorm what I can begin eating as I also go back to work tomorrow.

I was sleeved on 8/9/12. I'm eating soft foods and doing very well other than I have an URI so I'm feeling a little under the weather.

Sorry to hear, hope you feel better. What kinds of food are you eating?

Yes I was allowed to start the soft food stage about a week and a half after my surgery. I eat a lot of chicken and turkey for lunch and dinner and usually an egg or just a Protein shake for Breakfast.

I eat refried Beans, Hamburger, canned veggies (very little cause I'd rather have the protein) eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese, tuna, chicken, chicken in the can. I can eat between 2 and 4oz depending on what it is. Right now I eat pretty much whatever I want except raw veggies and fresh fruit. I was told not to start those until 6-8 weeks. I don't eat Pasta, rice, bread, sodas or juice and I only use artificial sweeteners.

My family had spaghetti and meatballs the other nite and I ate two 2oz meatballs witha little sauce. it was very good. This morning I had chicken Soup no noodles because I'm sick and the warth feels good on my throat. A little later I will have egg drop Soup for lunch.

I came across what I think is a great recipe for pizza crust but I also use it as bread for sandwiches.

Cauliflower Crust Pizza

Yields: 1 serving*

042.jpg

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked, riced cauliflower

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese*

1 egg, beaten

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp crushed garlic

1/2 tsp garlic salt

Olive oil (optional)

pizza sauce

Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Other additional toppings of your choice

*Many people have commented and said that the amount of cheese can be reduced by half, and still taste just as good!

Directions:

To rice your cauliflower, take 1 large head of cauliflower, remove the stems and leaves, and chop the florets into chunks. Add to a food processor and pulse just until it looks like rice. Alternatively, you can grate the cauliflower with a cheese grater.

Place the riced cauliflower in a microwave safe bowl, add 1/4 cup Water, and microwave for 6-8 minutes, stirring half-way through.

To make the pizza, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Spray a pizza pan or cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, combine the cauliflower, mozzarella cheese and egg together and stir until well incorporated. Add the oregano, garlic, and garlic salt. Transfer to the cookie sheet, and shape into a 9-inch circle. Brush the crust with olive oil to help it brown in the oven.

Baked at 450 degrees F for 15 minutes, until the crust is browned and cooked through the middle.

Remove the crust from the oven, add your sauce and toppings. Place under a broiler at high heat until the cheese is melted and bubbly. (About 3-4 minutes).

Allow the pizza to cool slightly, then cut into slices and serve.

For the above recipe I use skim mozzarella and I use 3/4 cups instead of 1 cup. Make sure you get all the moisture out of the cauliflower after you cook it in the microwave, blot it with a paper towel. Also, I still do protien shakes, EAS they are 100 cal but they only have 17 grams of Protein, I use those as Snacks and they are prepackaged so I can leave them in my car and have them whenever I need them.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
