Really!?!?! Cancelled The Day B4 Surgery After 3 Weeks Liquid

Yup just got a call from Hospital they cancelled my sleeve for tomorrow because..... my primary insurance (mine from my job) only covers emergency hospitalization, my wifes insurance covers everything and is what my WHOLE family use for doctors and anything else that goes wrong. Well my primary denied of course because I only have emergency hosp but my wifes insurance approved the sleeve. Now the day b4 surgery someone in the hospital called my primary to "double check" authorization which was of course denied and now im in phone tag trying to get this resolved and we are now out of time. So off work for 2 weeks screwed out of and the next surgery date is Sept 21st I cant do it for one wait that long after this horrible 3 week liquid diet and try and get off another 2 weeks unpaid next month... Im just giving up... no way I can make it to next month and line up my ducks again.

I am so sorry this happened to you. But your wrong: you CAN do it!! You have come so far don't give up. I am going through the six month supervised dieting and I can't even imagine how I would feel if after all this I go For surgery and something goes wrong and I have to start over.

However if that did happen I would want someone to talk me down off the ledge and stop me from quitting. Giving up is not an option. Not for you who has already been able to prove you can do the liquid diet. I would be having a serious talk with the staff who crossed up insurance but I would not give up. Please don't give up.

YES YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I know it might be impossible but can you self pay and make monthly installments until the insurance covers?

Also can you call your job and ask for those days back and explain to them what happened?

Can you add yourself to your wife's insurance?

Speak with the Doctor maybe there is a way he can help you.

Good Luck...I will keep you in my prayers.

wow im so sorry about that. it must be really frustrating. do you have FMLA or short term disability at work? they should pay you for the time that you are out. maybe the hospital can bill you for the time that you are there. it should only be two nights. i wish you best of luck.

please dont give up. i know how easy it is to do that. but youve come so far. most surgeons only ask for 2 week liquid diet. to make it 3 thats dedication. i have hopes and i will pray for you. keep trying <3

youve come to far to give up

Don't give up, fight! That's the joy of insurance companies, the ones who give up. Continue to call, call, call until they are sick of hearing from you. It's exactly why I went to Mexico/self pay.

Time flies- I promise!!! The liquid diet is the worst part.

This is my suggestion as well. Maybe you make a deposit and then temporarily be assigned as a Self Pay and then let them file with the correct insurance?

That great news!!!! :D Never give up. :)

I do not understand why they cancelled since they have approval from the secondary. All they need to do is routinely bill the primary then submit that bill/claim along with the denial to the secondary for payment. Someone in that business office does not know insurance or billing which sad. Believe me, you are not the first person with a limited primary and full benefit secondary, not by a long shot.
