Good morning and you are not Debbie doubter just letting your feelings out! You can and will do this ... I am on my 4th as well and yesterday was the first day I sort of felt hungry. Make sure you are drinking your Water and if you haven't get some low sodium chicken broth... It has been the best tasting thing the past couple of days. I can't wait for surgery either... Stay in touch and it will get better... we are in this together...

If you think the pre op diet sucks, just wait til you get to the wonderful joys of the post op diet ;)

All kidding aside, yes, it does suck, and during the liquid stage of post op, there will be days that you want to eat a bullet instead of another cup of Jello, but just keep this in mind. Once you get through the fazes and get to the 'soft food' stage, it will seem like a distant memory and you will be tickled that you get 'real food' again.

And hey, this is the road that has taken me from 373 to 260 in 5 months. (2 months pre op diet 3 months post op).

also, for post op, start looking into recipes now so you have a plan. These are the sites that I get a lot of ideas from

Emilybites.com is amazing resource

Bariatricfoodie

Gastricsleeve4me

Theworldaccordingtoeggface

Good luck

Yeah boy, I too had a hellavu time with the diet. I was ASKED to do 5 days and voluntarily did about 12 days. man, every freaking' commercial on TV was for something I would of LOVED to scarf down. I nearly broke down the day prior to surgery, they kept playing a commercial for a 3 cheese pizza with 2 different types of bacon on it - man I could just taste it! I held out though and reaped the benefits.

The pre-op diet gets a jump start on weight loss, and even we that have dieted and failed so many times before can hold out for a few days or weeks of diet as long as the goal of surgery is in sight. It also shrinks your liver as it's not choked full of fat and Protein , this makes the surgery easier for the surgeon. Your colon will thank you post-op too, as it won't be full of stuff that might not move because of post-op reaction to anesthesia and the trauma of surgery. I was so glad I did it, as the thought of sitting there having to bear down and push post-op was painful as is.

Stick with it, you'll be glad you did.

I'm on Day 4 1/2 myself and yes it does suck. But I really haven't been hungry my preop is 6 muscle milk light shakes aday 2 at each meal nothing else and I have to do 3 weeks of it. Right now I'm ok but It is hard to see all the food around and not have any. I feel your pain but I think its going to be worth it.

May I join your club? Day 1 of pre op diet and feel bad. not because i am hungry but because I am nauseous. I even think I "overeat" my liquid today because I hope that if I drink it would go away.... it doesnt....

Got my pre-op diet today and I was surprised. Granted I don't live in the US and we don't have access to Protein drinks really but I have to have yogurt and juice 3 times a day and chicken and Veg cream Soup for lunch and dinner. I think it might get old but I am assuming it wont make me nauseous. I hope.

Anyway, hang in there! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
