Gallstone Advice

Recommended Posts

I think I had a gallstone attack today. Painful and right spot. It lasted about an hour. I called surgeon and made an appt with my gen phys. If it is my gall bladder must it come out? Not loving the thought of another surgery so soon

depends on the size - mine got to the point where my gall bladder duct was blocked by a stone completely and I couldn't digest anything (not even water). Everyone is different, obviously, for instance - the attack could subside, but it's likely to return. If you're still recovering, best to get it over with now... ultimately, it's an elective surgery so there are non-surgical treatments, mostly symptom management, and it's a crap shoot whether you'll have symptoms again in a day, a month, or years from now.

I haven't had VSG yet, had my gb removed about 6 years ago and the recovery wasn't bad at all. I was back to work in 1 week. I'd go through it again to spare another gall stone attack, that's for sure!

Good luck!

I won't share my story with my gall bladder surgery but I would ask your VSG surgeon if it's too soon or not? I know the attacks wont go away and they are yucky :(

If you're having gall bladder attacks, you should want to have it out. I ignored my symptoms thinking they would go away and ended up with pancreatitis. That caused me to be in the hospital longer than if I would have have just gone in and had it taken care of. It was also so much more painful!

I ended up with pancreatitis after they took mine out (amongst many other numerous complications ) and that I must also argue is te worst pain someone could ever endure. O m g!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
