I was wondering if any one has an allergy to latex.. I had my sleep study and the areas where the Patches were located are red, raised and a little itchy.

That is normal. I don't believe it is a latex allergy? Are you allergic to latex? Mine were sensitive like that too after the sleep study.

I'm allergic to plastic tapes. If any kind of plaastic tape is used on me, my skin completely breaks down like its been eaten away. The only kind of tape I can have used now is the paper tape.

You might want to do an experiment and put a piece of plastic tape on your arm for a day or so and see how it fares. You may have a similar reaction.

I get the same with the band aids.

No one has told me. I get that reaction with band-aids as well. I just want to make sure there is no reaction during surgery. They still use lots of latex items at the hospitals. .

I do ok with latex I think, but I have a serious problem with adhesives. Even paper tape removes skin. After my surgery, I had red Patches pretty much from bra line to belly button. Plus, I was allergic to something in the elastic binder thingy you're supposed to wear, so I also had an itchy rash all around my midsection. Fun times. <_<

I just hate that they hurt and itch. But I guess for a better future I will deal with it. Thank you...

I have a mild allergy to latex, I'm mildly allergic to most adhesives (something in them but I don't know what, and only adhesives used on certain brands will bother me), and I tend to get "irritant contact dermatitis"/ICD. I'll get a much more severe version of what alliecat posted, but also the entire area that was covered will welt and I'll usually get extremely itchy, tiny blisters. ie. not just the outline of the bandaid, but everywhere the adhesive touched me.

When I had my first surgery in 2006 we thought it was limited to a few brands of commercial bandages and they covered my abdomen with pieces of that "clear contact paper stuff" - Tegaderm or comparable. When they pulled it off, it took skin off too. I actually have a few scars from my reaction/injury to that bandaging that are way more visible than from the actual surgery.

I have a big time sensitivity to latex - it is noted everywhere in my chart. They use Nitrile gloves and I didnt seem to have any issues - the leftover adhesive seemed to last forever - I think it was 8 weeks until I could get it all off.

I do not want or need any more pain or rashes when I have my surgery. I am just going to give them a heads up on my pre-op visit next Tuesday...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
