What do you eat in a typical day?

I remember wondering pre-op - what will I be able to have?

so I thought I'd as you !

Here's what I have in a typical day...

Because I can't eat more than 2 bites first thing in the morning... I'm taking those mini Cereal pack's to work... the 25g ones (for kids I think) & having one of them at about 10:30ish. I can have it at that time no bother. I have it with Semi Skimmed milk

At lunch time I have having 2 slices of wholemeal bread with cold meat, low fat spread and a little 'extra light' mayo.< /p>

If I get hungry mid afternoon I have a babybell or a dairylea triangle. (kindah plastic cheese stuff - dunno if you get it over there?)

for my dinner I'm having the likes of a pork chop or chicken (small breast or 2 thigh's) or a ready meal for one - all with a small amount of veg - If it's a Pasta ready meal then I rarely eat the whole lot... maybe half to 3/4 of it.

I don't eat or drink anything after 6pm because of the problems i'm having with the choking in my sleep.. (that's quite difficult).

I find that "real" Protein - NOT the proccessed stuff - I can eat very little of it & I feel fuller for MUCH longer. so I like to eat that as much as possible.

I drink as much Water as possible (probably not enough tho)

As for the ice cream :guess I do have treats, including ice cream & crisps (you call the potato chips?)... I'm not too keen on chocolate... depending on the time of the month.. (thankfully) I make sure they are only taken as a treat though & I take real care not to overdo the empty calories (including the liquid variety ! lol) I keep it to a Friday night & thats it...

I don't have much but I make sure I don't feel deprived... when I do that... my head starts playing wee games with me & I start fantasizing about food - then I have a blow out & feel terrible afterwards...

How about you - what do you have?

On my good days I always start with a Protein shake. I use 1-2% milk, Protein powder, and a variety of fruits. If I'm out of bananas, I keep bags of frozen cherries, peaches, berries. I don't like eating Breakfast, and coffee makes me jittery, so this shake is the answer to my Breakfast dilemna. Plus, I get fruit every day, which really keeps me regular! And I can drink it while getting ready for work then take the remainder in the car.

Then I drink tons of Water till 1/2 hour before lunch. Sometimes I'll have a Decaf with cream.

For lunch I eat anything I want in small portions. I chew chew chew but only eat for 20 minutes. I'm not sure what "full" feels like, so that's why I have the 20 minute rule.

An hour after lunch I drink more Water. At 3pm I try to eat a snakc like a granola or Protein Bar. This keeps me from being famished at dinner.

dinner is same as lunch. Around 7pm I have a popcicle, a cup of tea, or a fruit cup.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
