I'm just having my first appointments next week so I'm pre-pre-surgery. I don't know what insurance is going to require. I was denied many years ago so I'm trying to really watch what I eat. I'm nervous that this will end in some failure too.

That is do encouraging!!!! Awesome job with your weight loss!!! Hope you are able to post again soon! I'd love to know how you are doing!!!

So, I'm just 3 days from surgery.. I am getting freaked out!!!! I haven't been perfect with my liquid diet!! How do they really expect people who can't control their eating.. And we know we will never eat this way again.. Say.. Ummmmm no food for you!!!! For 14 days!!! I haven't gone crazy by any means.. A bite here a bite there.. So very difficult... I am down 12.5 as of this morning.. I know you said you had a hard time.. How bad did you cheat, and your liver was ok right?? Can't wait to hear from you!!!

Jakat... Three data to go!!!! How are you doing on liquids??? I'm Stephanie BTW.. What time do you have to be there Monday??

I think is important to look at his videos Stephanie on Fasttrak because he says that he wants the liver to shrink but from what I have heard alot of people have cheated but it seems as if no one that I have heard on here has been turned away by Dr Curry. I watched a couple of his videos online and its very informative. Good luck

Thanks Lynn.. I watched some if those videos early on.. I will check them out again.. I do great on my diet while at home.. But the few days I was in the road with work.. Tough.. Long days, food everywhere!! But, I haven't ever fallen off the wagon, but I have had a couple bites of food.. I travel out of the country for work, and from the flight over till I get back... Food!! Food!!! Food!!! Ughhh!!! But I haven't had any junk, or carbs.. A bite of shrimp, a bite of chicken, a bite of steak.. Nuts... It is so hard... I do so well at home.. But the smells.. I pray for strength..!!!

Lynn, I noticed you posted on iggys situation... Her story is really starting to give me cold feet!!!! I just keep telling myself, that is not the norm.. Hope all is well.. Thanks for the tips, I will go thru the videos again tomorrow.. Thx:))

Oh Steph I bet that is fun to travel on a job I always had hope for a job like that. You know what I feel for Iggy and anyone else who is going through what she is. I have had couple of procedures done in the past and I just put my life in god's hand. WE can have the best surgeon out there but none of us know what may happen. KEEP THE FAITH... Good luck sweety I was hoping to hear from Rachel I hope everything is ok. I got in next week to see the nutrionist. I was just wondering after you had your

EGD and final nutrion session how long does it take to get a surgery date. My EGD is not for awhile. See you later

Need yes monday is it. I am doing well on the pre-op. I have lost 21 so far. I have cheated a little to..a bite here or there, but mostly high Protein low carb. I did have a craving for pizza tonight since I ordered some for my son. So I took a bite chewed it up and spit it out. It was amazing, craving gone, just the taste curbed it. Good luck to all. Sprinkles great to hear that you are doing well.

Hey steph!

It is the eve of your surgery! as well as you too Jakat! I'm so excited for yall! and Yes I did cheat. And I cheated... well not good lol I had chinese food, pizza.. lol etc.. and my liver was just fine to have the surgery. so don't worry! all is well! I think they expect people to cheat but want to try to get you to do the best as you can. I still have a ton of that nasty food from fast track sitting in my kitchen, knowing I will never, ever, eat that crap.. hahaha too bad you can't sell it back.. that was the worst! I'm almost 2 weeks out now and i've dropped a little more weight. and for the first time in about a year, I'm having a period! and I also haven't had to take my type 2 diabetes medicine since the eve of my surgery! so I'm pretty excited about everything, and my size 20 jeans that I was squeezing into (because I refused to buy a 22 lol!) i'm now fitting comfortably into! so it is an exciting time, but there are major adjustments after the surgery. and I thought the hunger thing would go away instantly, Mine has not. I am by no means like ravenous, but I do get hungry, and wait til I can eat again lol i think it is mostly mental, and eating and drinking slow is a crazy thing to adjust to. I'm still trying to slow down my eating. but I'm getting there! I wish yall the best of luck! and I'm praying for yall!

jI'm so sorry I've been MIA! I've just been doing a lot with my mom and adjusting to my new life post surgery! Ohh and after your EGD you can walk over to his office and ask to set up your sleeve surgery! They asked me when I was looking to have it , and I said the first appointment you've got would be great! so it was less than a month after my egd! good luck to you and I hope you get the date that you want!!

Hey Rachel.. Glad to hear your doing well.. Glad your 20s are feeling loose!!!!! And no more meds.. That's awesome!!!! It is almost 0200 and I am laying here just filled with anxiety about the surgery.. I've been reading about this other woman who has been dealing with horriable complications for a month now.. I have been getting cold feet.. Not that I'm backing out, I just wish I didn't have to resort to surgery to lose weight.. What a major adjustment we will have..

I have cheated a little, I was concerned, but it seems like many do.. I haven't had junk.. Mostly Protein.. But I have been perfect these last 4 days.. And it's driving me crazy!!! I went to Kroger today to get food for my husband and my family that's coming from our if town to help with my little ones.. And I seriously wanted to est everything I passed.. Lol.. It was crazy.. Oh and the smells!!!

So, do you recommend anything special to bring?? Computer, books ect.. Or will I just want to sleep?? Also, did you have a drain or catheter?? And did you gave to drink something before an ultrasound befor you went home?? Just some things I've been reading..

Glad you are doing well.. Please keep in touch..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
