Never Full Until It's Too Late...

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue...it seems I am never full. I snack all day on stuff. cheese, trail mix, dill pickles, even bad things like crackers and the odd cookie. I have a shake in the morning (had to switch to soy Protein because the whey was nauseating me), and i eat mostly tuna and chicken salads, baked fish, eggs, and other Proteins, almost no bread for meals, very few sweets other than something like fruit or maybe an ice cream.

except. unless it's too late, or when i'm in a restaurant with friends. then i get the fear, and start sneezing, stuffy nose, the whole nine. i know i'm going to be sick, and i am.

i'm a little over 2 months out (i know it's not long), but i am so afraid of a) busting staples because i've gotten sick, or B) stretching my pouch! what am i doing wrong? i'm trying to be slow?

Maybe if you eat your meals more slowly that will help.

That happened to me with the lapband. Don't snack all day. Hats the worse you can do..... Only eat your 3 meals and 2 Snacks..... Sip Water if you get hungry or even a Protein shake..... Chew slowly.....

Also, how are you already eating all that after the sleeve surgery? I heard it took a lot longer to be able to eat like that

Don't snack, but have 4-6 small meals...1/4 cup or 1/2 cup at a time and stop. Protein first (as it will help to stop hunger), then veg and fruit. cheese, trail mix, and things like that are very high calorie and fat. Stay away from empty calories, like any thing with white flour, white rice, sugar, limit cheese and dairy, etc.

mrscastillo, when I'm at home, I only eat 3 oz. of things like fish, and it takes me about an hour to do it. It's when I leave the house that I have issues, it seems. Those were my instructions from my surgeon. I've lost 53 lbs so far...

tinfoil_heroine, you're not alone. I was sleeved 5/30/12 and I'm hungry most of the time. I know I still eat too fast, and I pay for it afterwards, but I get so hungry I can't help it. I don't snack constantly, but probably more than I should. It's such a struggle, and probably why I've only lost around 34 lbs...... :-(

What works for me at a restaurant is that I portion out what I know I can eat, maybe even a little less. Then the rest is boxed up. It's too easy sometimes to miss those cues about getting full when I'm with my friends or family.

One other thought, I like to "eat by the clock" if I can.

  • I get up 5 am during the week.
  • I have Breakfast at 6 am (shake, egg, etc.).
  • Then at work, I have my snack at 9 am (shake, 15 pistachios, or 1/2 a Luna Protein bar).
  • Lunch with my team is typically 11-ish.
  • I have my next snack at about 2:30 (shake, 15 pistachios, or 1/2 a Luna protein bar)
  • Supper is about 5:30 (varies)
  • My last snack (sugar free popsicle or sugar free fudgesicle)
  • And... bed at 9 pm

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
