Ey everyone. I have an iPad and iPhone. Does anyone know a good app to help me track my food?

What is it 700-800 cals a day? Im day 7 post op. are we supposed to be even taking calories into account? Lemme give ya a run down of what ive eaten so far:

1) Top ramen broth x 3/ day (its easy for me to get like 2 cups of liquid down at a time. Im worried its alot)

2) hot chocolate

3) milk tea

4) 2 popsicles

5) im sucking on hard candy. Is that ok?

Also' date=' does anyone know any good bariatric workbooks for postop? Or food addiction workbooks/sites?

Thanks guys!!! Really appreciate it!![/quote']

Hi! The sodium and sugar is a no no for now. They tell me that while your stomach is healing, they both can slow down the healing. If you can't find a low or no sodium broth you like, stick to teas, sugar free apple juice, etc. Protein drinks are essential. sugar free gum is good and sugar free hard candy as well.

Believe me, I know it's hard. I was sleeved on the 15 and am so frustrated with these thing already! I want to graduate to mashed foods so bad. My dietician said no. Lol so next week will be smooth yogurt, thick liquids, puréed Soups (no cream).

Hang in there!!

In looking at what you list as things you've eaten, I'm not seeing any (or much) Protein. Most nutritionists would tell you to focus on getting plenty of liquids, and between 60-80 grams of protein/day. There are multitudes of Liquid Protein options available (Muscle Milk, unjury powders, Syntrax, etc)...I would start by adding some of those to your daily intake.

As for the top ramen broth....that is horribly high in fat and sodium. There are many alternative broths on the market that would be (imho) a much better choice.

Wishing you the best!

Laura

They do have sugar free hot chocolate' date=' I had it once or twice with skim milk on my liquids diet.[/quote']

I use the Nestle's Fat free. It has 4 grams of sugar though, but that's the only sugar i ever get.

Super! I don't see a darn thing wrong with the SF hot chocolate. I just never drank it because it was utterly tasteless to me and I can make killer mocha Protein shakes that taste like Starbucks frappachino thingies. Smart mixing in the Fiber. Don't you have to drink it real fast before it gels up?

How?? Tell us your secret! I have failed at making any Protein shake taste decent. I'm not good with 'fake' flavors.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
