Getting Vsg At 22

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone' date='

Just thought I would post in the forum! I got approved today for an August 22nd date. I got lucky in the fact that my insurance was actually pretty easy to work with and I got approved the first time I applied. I'm enjoying reading everyone's stories on here and am very glad I am having the surgery before I head back to school in September![/quote']

I'm 24 years old... i just got approved and did my pre-op today. Surgery is Aug 21st! Good luck!!!

I'm 25 and getting the sleeve this fall. I havent had anyone ask me if I thought I was too young..if anything I wish I had gotten the sleeve years ago

So I would have been able to enjoy my early 20's at a healthy weight. The good part is since we our young we will bounce back quickly and less changes of loose skin :)

I felt the same way. It is so frustrating the first several days. And you're never actually physically hungry. Stay strong!

I had surgery on the 21st and came home yesterday. Havent had any issues with wanting food. My struggle so far is being able to drink Water like I used to before sugary. I love water and only being able to sip it is not working for me.

How are you feeling? I know what you mean about the water! I love my water and I hate the idea of not being able to gulp it down! Oh well, I would much rather be a sipper and be thin!

I'm feeling ok, could definitely be worse. My right side and 2 of my incisions are pretty painful. But as long as in relaxing (laying in bed or sitting down) in ok.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
