Can't eat in a.m....why?

Recommended Posts

I'm with you Carol.....I share the exact same attitude. I have been going through pure hell with this band at times.....and nothing is consistent except not being able to eat in the morning. I know I do better when I eat very slow too....but sometimes I just plain forget!

But........I'll put up with it as long as it takes the weight off and keeps it off. I can eat pretty good at times so I will do my best to get proper nutrition...but if I'm going to have to continue with the mealtimes when I can't get anything down then so be it! I'd rather the weight be gone!

Hi....with this last fill I can't seem to be able to eating even one small bite of anything in the a.m. and keep it down. I develope a horrible painful gas ball in my chest, it takes forever to pass and sometimes the little bit of food comes with it....this morning I couldn't manage one bite of a soft poached egg. This has happened everyday since Thursday (my last fill). I can't seem to eat anything at all until dinner time, sometimes that is difficult, yet sometimes I can manage to eat a bit more than I thought I could and foods that I thought I couldn't manage I can.

Does anyone know why it's difficult for some of us to eat in the a.m.?

Carol

HI there! Welcome to my world. I found out right away that I could not eat any Breakfast and usually have to do Soup for lunch to get restricted enough for dinner. They did NOT mention this at Seminar but I am learning there are a lot of us in this club. I call it the no breakfast syndrome!!!!

Dr. Malley says there are a lot of us with this. There are NO scientific answers for it and many have theories. Hang in there.

Poodles, I agree with you. When I lay down at night it lets me pull Fluid off.................and my ankles are the least swollen in the morning. So I know there are many theories out there but I think they do not really know why we have this syndrome.....no breakfast ......with our band.

Hi,

I've only been banded since July, but ever since the band, I don't eat solids until about 10:00 am. I get up, have a cup of coffee and make a Protein shake. I'm up at five thirty am, and have to catch the bus to work at 6:30, and some days I don't even finish my shake.

I put the remainder in a container and finish it at work when I get there.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
