Hi Lila!~!

Keep up the good work!!! You'll soon be banded.

I remember them yogurt days; in some ways I miss 'em...never had much of a worry about what to eat next!!! LOL.

You're doin' great!

thanks Cloe

Effexor is scary. Did you ever add it to food or drink? I guess I can just down the little beads. I don't want to see my GP cause I don't want to!!!!!! I sound like my 3 year old niece!!! I don't want my GP to know about my surgery. I live in a small town and I heard some peoples "secrets" that came from the hospital.Don't want to take that chance. Some people just don't understand.

Happy belated birthday!

You don't have to tell me about the lack of confidentiality!!! I work in a hospital and I'm also from a small city. You get a test done and before you know it the whole hospital knows about it. I was really disappointed to hear that you have to report the band as a medical alert. I am a bad asthmatic and have had several emergency visits and have been hospitalized recently because of it. I pleaded with the clinic "I don't want to tell them about the band!!!!!" They told me I had to. If I for some reason became unconscious and they had to open me up, they better know about the band. I think the next time I have an asthma attack, I will drive the hour to Ottawa...hmmmm...maybe that's not such a good idea.......Anyway, I dread the next time I need any medical help in my city because when that happens, everyone will know about the band!!!!

It SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doing OK on my pre-op diet . Went to bed at 9 pm last nite so I wouldn't want to eat. I can eating nothing all day, but come 4 pm i can't stop eating. And I am a closet eater, we had company and I wouldn't eat in front of them even though I had just gotten back from work at 7 pm. When the friends left I got ready for bed without even watching the finale of RockStar Supernova (YA Lukas!!)

I did the same thing, Lila! I went to bed as early as possible, and slept as late as possible (which I could, cause I wasn't working)... to stop myself from wanting to eat!

I hope you enjoy yourself in Toronto. I grew up here and so I really love it. The shopping is good and there is lots of variety. Unfortunately there is a lot more variety for thin people with small - size 9 or less - feet. It is a difficult city to get lost in when you are in the core because it is built on a grid. Good luck on the surgery, too.

Made it though another day on the pre-op diet. Weighed myself this am and I weigh 197.6 lbs. My husband joked I could cancel my surgery now.

Its not the losing the weight that is the problem I have... I've done it many times before. The problem I have is the gaining it back. I know that the band will be the tool I needed to maintain my weight loss for the rest of my life.

Off to go eat yogurt....

Green I wear a size 9 shoe and I never thought I had small feet. I'm 5'4 so I think the are big for my height.

But I do need some new shoes when I go to Toronto. We are stay ing near Square One mall per Yoda's recommendation. My sister and I are crazy shoppers. Every trip I 've made I've had to purchase another suitcase or 2 to bring back my purchases!

WOW, Leila, WTG, I only dream of the day I am 197 lb. Your right though, you have to look at the long-run.

Square One is a great mall, you should definately find some shoes there.

Lila, I missed it, what day is your surgery?

Your right Lila about the long haul. When I thought of the pre-op diet, I thought "if can do the pre-op diet, why would I need the surgery" but weight loss is a life time battle. My decision to have the surgery was based on that that premise.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
