Slenderella's Adventure Begins...in 12 Hours

Recommended Posts

I and my leak test this morning and passed' date=' so it's on to liquids. I was so,so glad to finally get to take a sip of Water. I've got my little 1oz cups that I'm supposed to drink every 15 minutes, and I'm sipping of chicken broth in between.

The liquid going down is a a weird sensation, and each sip is followed by a little burp. I'm not in a ton of pain, but I definitely am tender and achy. When my belly feels all "crowded" I get up an walk, something about standing up straight seems to relieve the pressure.

If all goes well I should be headed home by 1:00pm.[/quote']

Good morning, I'm still waiting to see my doctor so he can okay liquid. I haven't been told anything about a leak test.

I agree about the walking up right it feels better. But I get tired very fast. I'm glad to hear you are doing good. Here's to day 1.

Wowser, yesterday was rough! I got home from the hospital at 1:30pm, and I was still very bloated from surgery and uncomfortable. For some reason all of that gas wants to be released with burps, and with the hernia repair that causes some pretty painful pressure-hopefully that will end soon because it really hurts! Oh how I love me some Gas-X!

I also had some nectar Protein as soon as I got home, and it became obvious my tummy wasn't quite ready for that yet. As long as I stayed away from liquid Proteins, and only drank Water and broth, the cramping was manageable. I think my total was around 30 oz. maybe not too bad for my first day???

My swelling and bloating has gone down considerably and with that so has the pressure pain. Now if I could just take a sip of liquid without feeling like I'm swallowing rocks I think I might live. Last ***ht I had some Water go down the wrong hole and I thought I was going to drown!!! A little dramatic...maybe...but between trying to get the water up, and the 5 gallons of saliva that I had to choke down for said drowning event I was a little freaked out for a minute or two. LOL!!!

All in all I'm glad yesterday is over, because it sucked. Today I'm just going to focus on non-protein liquids and maybe to***ht I will try my nectar again. I'm going to try sleeping too..hahah! I went to bed at 8 but only slept off and on, decided to just get up around 12am.

I'm also ready to be less irritable!!! Man, I'm so irritable and impatient right now that I just want to be alone with my bad self. I'm sure the fact that we are moving and closing on our house next week isn't helping either. Talk about timing, huh? Oh well, in a few more days things will be much more calm and peaceful.

So glad your doing well. I agree the hernia repair seems to hurt worse. Hope all is still well.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
