Hi it's different for everyone. I'm 5'8 weight 233 wear a 16 and size large pants and shorts from the gap. Lately the 16 has been snug. Not going up a size surgery is in 2 weeks. At my smallest 209 I was a size 10-12. I can't wait to be 165!

Good luck with your surgery!! 160-165 ish is my goal weight for the time being, I got a long ways to go so I don't wanna set it too much lower than that! I'm at 305 as of today! 19.2 pounds down in 2 weeks post op! :)

Have any of you noticed that some peoples pants size/weight don't really match up? For example' date=' I weighed 324.2 at the start of my journey and I wore a 20/22. I've noticed a lot of people say they were in 20/22 but they weigh a lot less than me..like mid 200s-260 ish. Is it true some people weigh heavy? I've always thought I must weigh heavy. Oh, and I haven't tried my jeans on to see if I've went down a size or not, so I'm assuming I'm probably still a 20/22, maybe they'll be loose now. Oh, and I'm 19.2 pounds down and will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow. :)[/quote']

Bodies are so cool! Lol.

At 290lbs I was in a snug 24 jeans. I'm 5'3" and pear shaped. Last weigh in I was 276 and a couple of days later those same jeans had a little give in the booty/hips/thighs. :)

All my weight sat in my hips and butt so I was always jealous of all you who could be 260+ still in 20's! I think I was in 24's at 260. I was in 22's around 230's. Now at 320's I am in 28's, can't waitttt to get back to 20's but I know it's still pretty far =p

I was a 24-26 at 285. I have always been hippy. Now at 203 I'm still at an 18 but wear a 12 top. It's BS, but atleast now I can shop in 1 part instead of going back and forth to plus and misses section.

I think you have to consider how tall people are!

I'm 5ft- so I was a BALL! :)

Well I'm 5'4 and carry most of my weight in my stomach/upper body. I guess its just weird to see how much it varies between us women. I imagine I will get down to 250 and be in a size 12? Thanks for the responses' date=' ladies! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I can always count on this forum to have great feedback! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

I'm 5'6" started at 228 and wore a 20... I think some people are more comfortable with tighter fitting clothes and also depending where u buy them. I'm two weeks post op and have lost 20lbs and I can still wear the same clothes. They are super loose but still fit. Good luck with that size 12.

I don't wear mine tight at all, I have always hated tight fitting clothes..makes you look even bigger! And I don't really figure ill be in a size 12 at 260 or whatever, just sayin that b/c I know I weigh heavy but wear the same size as some who weigh a lot less..I don't really expect to be in a 12.. :)

Sizes are weird. I'm 5' 10" and at 286 I wore a 24. In college I was 155 and wore a 14. I don't remember a time when I wasn't a 14. But I look back at pictures and I was skinny!

In 5' 2" and at my highest (last August) I was 330. For me that was size was "the biggest thing I could find in the store" I completely ignored anything with short sleeves- (because I have very thick arms) and anything form fitting. Pants were 26/28 and they were mostly snug.

After my 6 month medically supervised diet I am around 281 and pant size 22 fits me. All my old T-shirts are getting very big. I went shopping the other day to get some capris for post op- I found 2 pair of size 20. One I managed to squeeze my booty into ( and even button and zip) and the other I couldn't even get my leg down. I bought both because I know I will be able to wear them- one day! :)

So I think there are a lot of different factors that determine sizing like height, weight distribution, manufacture, and body style. We are all so different. ;)

Ps. I'm totally jealous of overweight people with skinny arms- what I would do to wear a sleeveless shirt!!! My kids joke about me having bat wings now- I can't wait to see what they say 120lbs from now!!! I'm so self conscious of my dang arms!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
