Why are some people on here so rude and nasty we are all in this together everyone knows what to eat this is a life style change but we also have to live our lives and if someone wants to eat a icecream sandwich in moderation that is fine they don't need to be beat up about it. I cannot imagine eating just protein and not having a treat for the rest of my life. But you van rest assured I will not talk about out here since some people think they ate the judge and the jury

Bariatricfoodie.com
Gastricsleeve4me - not sure of the website name, but it is a blog with some great recipes. She is also a member of this forum.
Also, google "the world according to eggface" she has good stuff too.
My family practically lives off the Emilybites meals. I never knew that healthy food didn't have to suck. These are my go to recipe sites. Many of the meals are good for non-ops too. My wife is non-op and has lost 51 pounds since April this year eating from these recipes. And I'm down 105 now.
Good luck

BentleyJade reacted to Drewc577 in A Few Questions..I'm getting sleeved Thursday. But my nutritionist goes by the 60/60/60 rule:
60 grams of Protein per day minimum
60 oz of Water per day
60 min of walking
With the carbs and sugar:
Carbs 4 grams per serving maximum
Sugar 4 grams per serving maximum
Get good quality Protein Shakes like Isopure, Optimum Nutrition, Dymatize, ect.
Hope this helps!!

BentleyJade reacted to enigmachik in The Food Misses UsWritten from the point of view of the food we used to eat that made and kept us fat. The first couple verses are alright, but the chorus at the end made me lol. Here is Junkfood's Lament:
Now and then I think of when we were together
...
Like when you said you were so happy I was fried
You told yourself I satisfied your need
Then felt so bloated in my company
Now acid reflux is an ache you still remember
You had been addicted to a certain kind of dining
But now the HoHos and the fries are coming to an end
So when you found that fat could not make sense
And you said that you need healthy trends
I'll admit that I was sure you'd still need doughnuts.
(All together now)
But you didn't have to cut me out
Make out like you look right past me when I'm on the menu
Now I can't even pass your lips, you treat yourself with fruit now
and I feel so used
No, you didn't have to feel so good
Have new friends support your weigh-ins
And then cheer your victories
I guess that I don't fill your needs
Now you're just some body that I used to feed.
Some body.
Now you're just some body that I used to feed.

BentleyJade reacted to Wolfgirl1978 in Change In PersonalityI've found that I'm very emotional and bitchy. I'm 10 weeks post op and hopes this is just a phase. Everything else is fabulous with my sleeve though.

BentleyJade reacted to LouiseC in I Feel Like A Failure :(Okay. This is about choices. You know the sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand. It is still up to you to make good choices for body.
You know what you need to do, the question is, will you choose to do it?
Small, regular meals. Protein first. Don't drink your carbs. Don't drink while you eat. Keep hydrated.
These are simple rules to live by. Don't actively choose to fail when you have the tool that can help you succeed. It's really up to you now to make this work. Keep on the sweet tea and the grazing approach to eating and yes, you will likely fail. So choose not to. Go back to basics. Stick to the plan. Succeed.

BentleyJade reacted to chilihot59 in My 1St NsvIt happened yesterday as I was leaving the house, my 7 yr old granddaughter said, "Wow Nana! You're getting skinny!". I stopped dead in my tracks and was speechless. I, think I went into shock! Well, I finally said thank you, with a smile. I confess, I wanted to cry! Although, my clothes are getting really loose and I've seen some physical changes, some part of me is not seeing or accepting! But, babygirl's compliment broke through and hit home! Yeah me!!! So glad, I started taking care of me and got my sleeve!!! This is only the beginning:)

BentleyJade reacted to PdxMan in StallI'm just so curious as to why people, not just directed at OP, believe stalls are a bad thing. Sure, we want to be skinny in 5 days, but that is not how this works.
Having your body try to hold on to reserves really is a good thing. Really.
As long as you keep doing the right things, your body will respond as it needs to. It just kills me when people think they are doing something wrong when everything happening is absolutely right.
You're doing fine. Just keep following the sleeve rules, get some exercise and everything will be fine. Really.
There is absolutely no possible way to gain fat when you are running a calorie deficeit. You have to believe this ... right?
Celebrate your stall. It means this is one less stall you have on your journey to what you will ultimately be.

BentleyJade reacted to Lissa in Dreaded Week 3-4 Stall: Any Tips To Break It?You all need to take your measurements NOW and then compare them during stalls. I walked out of my first pair of pants during my first stall. The pants fit one day and then fell off me the next day, even though the scale stayed the same. You really can't "break" a stall unless you're stalled because you're eating too much.
Basically, our bodies are adjusting to the changes we've made. When we stop eating so much and start adding hydration, the body says "Whoa!" and tries to hold onto the weight because it thinks we are in a famine of some kind. Once the body metabolism resets itself, you will drop weight, and usually dramatically.
Those stalls are when I lose sizes and inches, always. I'm learning not to dread stalls but to look for the NSVs (non scale victories) during them.

BentleyJade reacted to isajck in Pain!Mine is pretty constant with big movements, walking and such, it also gets worse after being still for long periods of time. If I am sitting or laying down then the pain is very minimal until it's time to get up.
Will your doctor not call in more pain meds? Mine offered but I've barely touched the ones given to me after surgery so I said no.
I really hope it eases up over the next week and a half because when I return to work it will take my all to concentrate on the job and trying to get in what little liquids and food that I can handle.
I'll cross fingers that we're both better soon!

BentleyJade got a reaction from Sherry77 in Early Soft FoodsI just think we should have a more supportive tone when we post things. Everybody has struggles.
We are all adults, so we shouldn't stoop to catty internet arguments and negativity. Just agree to disagree and move on.
Just MY opinion. Remember we are in this together, hence we are all members of the same site.

BentleyJade reacted to traceyinflorida in Virus Or I Ate The Wrong Thing?I am sorry you are feeling so bad today. I don't know if this will help, but I am now two months out and I will share my experience with you. After the first few days I felt wonderful. However, I found it to be a bit of a rollercoaster. Sometimes feeling great, other times feeling bad. By week two and three I found myself more tired, head aches, and nausea. There were three things that would trigger feeling bad: pushing too hard (we were on a driving and walking tour visiting colleges for my son), eating some new things, and getting somewhat dehydrated. I can tell you that with each week that passes, I feel better. Most of the time now, I feel pretty normal, other than I can't eat like I used to. Aside from taking time for your body to heal, it also takes some time to find a rhythm and the right foods for eating and drinking water. I learned that one bite too much can mean the difference between feeling satisfied and feeling sick for hours. Most of the time, I have learned when to stop eating so I don't feel sick, but I still make mistakes. (last night being one of them). I also have learned that I feel run down and nauseos if I do not get enough fluids during the day. Finally, there are just some days for me (thankfully very few of them) that nothing agrees with my stomach. It may be that some combination of the the other things I mentioned may have come into play, or it may just be my stomach still healing. Overall though, I feel like I have been through the worst of it and am at the point where the benefits have far outweighed any of the bumps in the road along the way.
I hope you feel better soon! Try to take it easy, get some rest and drink lots of fluids today.

BentleyJade got a reaction from Pete in PcosI'm right at 16 days post op, and have been wondering the same thing. No changes for me, yet..I expect things to start changing when I lose around 40 or 50 pounds..just my guess. I was about 40 lbs lighter last time I had a period. So I'm hoping it will be soon! Id like to know about others and when they were "regular" again, as far as periods, excess hair, etc.

BentleyJade reacted to SleeveNoob in Omg I Just Ate Cake 8 Days After SurgeryThere is just a way to give advice and a way to judge. There are many judgmental people on here who get snappy at people who struggle. They know its wrong or they know it could hurt them that's why they post on this site. I think people should just answer the questions asked not scold people. I've been scolded on here and it didn't help me all I got were a bunch of people telling me a bunch of crap I already knew. my point is think before you speak. Having the sleeve makes no one on here an expert on everyone else. Advice is fine, informing or trying to teach is fine. But to belittle someone because they struggled and cheated is out of line and makes me not yup even want to use this forum.

BentleyJade reacted to clk in "all Things In Moderation"?Everyone is different. I'm two years out, maintaining beautifully and easily (even while in early pregnancy) and I embrace the idea that moderation is key.
I cannot live on a diet forever. I cannot tell myself entire groups of food are off limits for life. I cannot say that a particular type of food is the magical reason I was fat. It would be a lie.
People talking about trigger foods and uncontrollable eating if they dare to eat a carb or calorie out of line? That sounds like perhaps they didn't work on the emotional aspect of their obesity and on their disordered eating. They cut calories and carbs and got to goal...and now they're trapped in a lifestyle that has no give in any direction. That may work for some people, for a lot a of people it's just asking to fall off the diet wagon, and hard.
Dieting helped make me fat. The endless cycle of binges and purges involved in watching every single calorie and frantically exercising to take off the extra calories in a handful of Doritos. The failing of willpower when I realized that I simply could not stand the idea that I was banned from carbs for life. The feeling like a miserable failure (and the resulting comfort eating) whenever I'd take a misstep.
Knowing I can eat what I want means a lot to me. It means that I don't feel deprived, ever. It does not mean that I sit around eating cheesy poofs and drinking soda all day long. It means I eat like a normal person. I eat to plan about 95% of the time and give myself some flex in that other 5%, and I'm happier for it.
I think that in the beginning, people should stick as closely to a high Protein, low carb diet as possible. By low carb, I mean actually eating enough carbs to have energy and not lose your mind. Around fifty grams or so a day. It's hard to eat carbs in the early months, anyway.
As your capacity for food increases, so should your intake of everything, in equal amounts. I eat 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat, roughly. That's what works for me. I simply upped the calories once I hit goal to maintain. I'm not regaining weight and I'm not having trouble maintaining. It's very individual, though. Track to your body's needs. Some people do not lose weight eating as many carbs as I do, and some people need more than me. Track your food, add in what you need to feel good and reach your goals and cut back if it slows your loss. It's actually very easy to do.
For every person that can point and say "moderation" made that person regain, I can point to another story where someone simply dieted their way to goal and regained. This sleeve is a TOOL. Not just a tool for weight loss. A tool that can help you overcome lifelong habits and disordered eating. Use it for it's maximum potential. The reason people regain weight isn't because they ate popcorn or bread. It's because they didn't ask themselves WHY they were eating it and figure out how to stop doing it if they weren't hungry. Use the sleeve to learn control, and be healthier all around, not just thinner.

BentleyJade reacted to msvickee in "all Things In Moderation"?I know that I can't go back to my old habits expecting to keep the weight off.
My old habits included eating way too much food not just the unhealthy food but healthy food as well . I needed portion control. Nothing is wrong with eating pizza, a slice, it's when you down an entire pizza that becomes dangerous which I had done in the past.
I agree with everything in moderation but also in due time. This is my weight loss phase so I must practice healthier choices and my sleeve is the tool to help me with that. Now the maintenance phase is going to be the test of what I learn these next 1-2 years.
I am not in a hurry to drive by my favorite fast food place Whataburger because I know that Whataburger is not going to help me in the long run. Will I ever go back? Perhaps one day or maybe not. One day at a time and I'm not trying to sabotage my own success at weight loss. I can't afford to. My health is way too important which is why I had the surgery.
The sleeve has already helped me save money from going to restaurants and Enjoy cooking again.
