I Feel Like A Failure :(

Recommended Posts

So, I will be 5 weeks out on Tuesday 8/21. I have noticed that I have gained an appetite back..and I can eat anything I feel like I might want to try. (Still not eating fried or fast foods, though)

I drink sweet tea.

Water hurts and instantly nauseates me :(

Crystal light burns my throat.

I even feel like sometimes I over eat. I just feel like a huge failure right now. I'm super emotional and moody. I eat throughout the day, too..little bits at a time.

Anyone else feel this way? And my scale is messed up, just bought it at Target and its totally off, even after setting it. So I don't know my weight.

Ugh. :( I wanna cry

All comments & feedback appreciated! Just don't be mean, please!

Okay. This is about choices. You know the sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand. It is still up to you to make good choices for body.

You know what you need to do, the question is, will you choose to do it?

Small, regular meals. Protein first. Don't drink your carbs. Don't drink while you eat. Keep hydrated.

These are simple rules to live by. Don't actively choose to fail when you have the tool that can help you succeed. It's really up to you now to make this work. Keep on the sweet tea and the grazing approach to eating and yes, you will likely fail. So choose not to. Go back to basics. Stick to the plan. Succeed.

Well said! Tomorrow, (well today) is a new day, I plan on starting over..no more tea and grazing! Its just harder than I thought. I know we all know this is a tool, but I think some of us still hope & pray that the weight will fall off. But I know I am going to have to work for it. And I'm going to. Starting now. :) thanks for the response!

I felt the same why. You will have days that you want to sit and eat and drink like you did due to emotions and surroundings. You are better than this! You are a new you! You will succeed!

I'm a year and 5 months out from my sleeve and I still have bad days. My advise..

Give yourself credit for making the first step.. It's all about baby steps to a new life

eggs are amazing (but get boring) but when you want to eat go for the eggs or Protein shake.

I've learned that tea (even unsweetened) has chemicals in it that make you crave sugar! (this from my doctors office)

treat yourself to a nice scale and remember weigh yourself the same time each day.. (I do it first thing when I wake up, after I use the bathroom!!)

It will get better and before you know it you will be a whole new you! :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
