How Many Lbs Did You Lose Before Dropping Pants Size

Recommended Posts

I'm only down about 17 lbs (surgery was 7/17). I have to wear suits to work and noticed that my blazers actually close again, though my pants still fit (maybe a bit baggy in the thighs, though). All depends on where you're losing the weight. I can tell my stomach has gone down, even with just those 17 lbs, probably from eating low carb. Suits are the only plus sized clothes I've worn - between Gap and Old Navy, 18s have been fine - so I'm looking forward to wearing suits that aren't made of stretchy poly!

I didn't mention that I can wear jeans that are 4 sizes smaller but the uniform pants are polyester and the waistband has a bit of stretch to them. I must have been at maximum capacity in them before. I was really hoping to have a dramatic difference when I went back to work, but I know that big milestones take time. I guess I'll find out by my coworkers comments. They don't hold back where I work.

They will definitely notice the 50 lb weight loss! That is awesome! Even if you had not dropped to the next pant size down, I bet your uniform pants fit MUCH better than before.

The thing I noticed is that my pants size did not drop right away with the weight loss. Then I would hit the dreaded stall, and a couple weeks later, WA-LA I was in a different size even though I had not lost any additional weight. I have gone from a size 22W to a 16W or size 18 regular (you know I will never buy another 16 W again, now that a regular size fit! LOL) but I lingered in my 22's and 20s for quite a while before the sudden drop to 18.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
