Please Help Me Pick A Doctor

Can anyone tell me about Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Garcia, and Dr. Alvarez as I am confused about which Dr. has the most experience with the sleeve.

I can't tell you for sure who has the most experience with the sleeve, but after researching all of the doctors you listed I decided to go to Dr. Kelly. He seemed to have more years experience and prefers the sleeve over plication. I was initially going to go to Oritz for plication, until I read more about the procedures. It seems to me that Dr. Oritz does more plications than sleeves.

I agree with echowits. I don't like the plication idea, which Ortiz specializes in. Dr Kelly and Dr Garcia have an excellent reputation. I believe Dr Alvarez is on the Texas/Mexico border and he has an excellent rep as well. I'm from Nevada so it's faster and cheaper for me to fly to the east side of Mexico. I went with Dr Aceves, but I have no doubt they would all do an excellent job. In my case, it was just "going with the gut instinct".

*Edited to correctly spell echowits' name

Forgot to suggest you check the Mexico sleever section if you haven't already.

All the doctors you have listed here are quite capable of completing your surgery, and have plenty of experience. That being said, if I were forced to choose between them & money wasn't a factor it would be Dr. Alvarez.

Now to confuse you more. My personal top choices would be

#1 Dr. Aceves

#2 Dr. Alvarez

#3 dr. Ponce de leon

#4 Dr. Kelly

These surgeons all provide basicly the same level of care and all have tons of experience.

The top 2 typically perform 2-3 procedures per day in high end facilities. They also charge 8700-8750

The second 2 typically perform 4-5 procedures per day in upper midgrade facilities. Their fees are 5500

You really have to go based on Ur research and ur gut. It took me almost two years to save my money but I did it and it's the best decision I've ever made. I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez July 7th and couldn't be happier. Everyone is going to probably tell u the same. It's all up to u, if I can be of any help, I'll be here...

I'm going with Dr. Lopez Ortega. I looked on-line, did a lot of research on youtube. I e-mailed several people on there and they were more than happy to answer my questions. I also decided to have my surgery in Puerto Vallarta. I have a friend going with me and I wanted her to be able to enjoy the trip.

I used Dr Jose Rodriquez in Jaurez,Mexico. He's been doing surgery for 25 years. Over 14,000 gastric surgeries. A nurse from Texas was there the same day I was having the surgery. Ske works in the department the hospital does all these surgeries & plastic surgery. She did not have it done wherevshe works because her insurance would not pay for it. She researched it thoroughly. I have had 11friends have it there. Not one person has had a problem StarMedica hospital. Went through BeLightWeight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
