Yay! Someone else from Utah on here! How did your sleeve go in Mexico?

I'm doing fine- just trying to make it through my pre op diet. :)

Doing good!!! I have felt really good. Just wish I was losing a little more. Only down 15 lbs and have been on a stall...little frustrating I hear for a few weeks. Just trying to get all my liquids in each day which is hard.

When is your surgery??

15 lbs is great!!! What kind of eating plan are you doing?

I'm scheduled for Friday August 17. I can't wait!!!! This pre op diet is not very much fun at all. I'm on day 7 and down 10 lbs- so I know it's working!

Congrats to you!! I was on Clear Liquids for one week post-op. 2 weeks full liquids (protein shakes and soups) then this last week soft foods. Should be able to start solid foods this week. Good Luck to you! Will be thinking of you on the 17th!

I am from St. George. I had my surgery done on March 14th, so I am 5 months out now. I have lost 61.5 lbs. I have basically been able to eat any regular Protein I want since about week 4. I have started swimming 3-4 times a week, but the heat down here is preventing any outdoor walking. Having this surgery was the best thing I have ever done!

@desert19 glad to hear you are doing so good. I am doing better too. Losing again now. Eating solids and running on the treadmill. My goal is to do a 5k this fall... Maybe by the end of October? We will see :) down 30 lbs since surgery mid July but have now lost 70lbs since January. Cleaning out my closet has been fun lately! Hope out other Utah friend Emily is doing ok??

Moelizg I am in my 6 month diet with Dr cottam right now! Hopefully ill be sleeved in December between semesters... It should be Jan at the latest though.

Were you happy with Dr Cottam? How is he on surgery day calming you down and stuff? I am super nervous. Also I am curious, when did they collect your coinsurance, was it before hand or did they bill you?

Glad to see all you fellow utahns are doing well and rocking those sleeves, Congrats on your weight loss!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
