Tropical Smoothie

Recommended Posts

I am quite fond of a tropical smoothie with splenda and whey Protein now. But they are 20 oz! Would they be okay to eat after surgery and it seems like I would waste a lot of one? Thoughts...

Well, there are a lot of people here who eat very low carb who would tell you there's a lot of carbs in that. I'm not a low carber. I mainly care about getting my Protein in and your shake would help that. However, 20 oz. soon after surgery is a lot to get down before it melts. Heck. I'm 7 weeks, 1 day and don't think I could get all that down before it melts. Is there a way you could make 1/4 of it at a time and space it throughout the day. That way you'd be concentrating on getting 5 ounces down a day?

Well, tropical smoothie is a restaurant chain. So I would get all 20 oz at once. I looked and most have 45-60 carbs :'(. The whey protien is 22 grams in the 20 oz. Hmmm

Oops! Didn't know it was a chain. I just thought you liked tropical flavored smoothies. :-) What about making your own at home.? You can pick up a Ninja at Walmart or Target pretty cheap these days and that thing rocks! Otherwise, you could get the 20 ounce one realizing when you do that you most likely won't be able to drink it all.

They have a kids size smoothie at Tropical Smoothie. It may be limited to certain flavors, but it is worth asking if you can have the small version. Of course, then you don't get 22 grams of Protein in one try, you would only get a portion of that. I would go on the internet and see if you can find recipes for your favorite tropical smoothie drinks and make your own. (I know, not as convenient, but probably much cheaper and more in your control). The Ninja that Amy mentioned crushes ice down to a slurpee texture in no time flat...better than any blender I have ever used which always leaves ice chunks. I think I paid $40 for mine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
