You can shower the next day if you want. solid food won't come for several weeks. Hang in there. I just started my purée stage today and it was wonderful!!!

I showered Wednesday before leaving for the hospital and again Friday when I got home. I could have showered in the hospital but was scared to try with the IV and everything. And i was on liquids only in the hospital, Saturday morning i was allowed to start purees.

Monica I feel sad about having to do the liquid diet as well. However, I look at it as a temporary hurdle, its only for a few weeks, and then you start getting back to solids. The end result is toooooo good to a meer liquid diet deter me from the operation. Health and happiness is at risk. Look at it like that :)

They had me shower the day after my surgery while in the hospital. They clamped off the IV for me. Had me shower there the next day also:)

I put waterproof dressings on my incisions and showered as soon as I was home. Hang in there with the liquids, it is pretty boring but it is really important not to place stress on the staple line. Good luck!

I had to wait for 2weeks to shower because I had a drain tube which really stunk. And for solid foods it was 4 weeks.

I took a shower- the day after surgery- about 25 hours after- and oMg it was the best thing ever! It felt incredible - I had a drain- but I tucked the tube up under a boob- and stood in the shower with the Water on my back for a good long time! It felt great! And it helped me sleep.< /p>

I needed a LOT of help because having had my GB out also- I was in an enormous amount of pain- and needed help from my wonderful husband- (in everything)

Everyone is different. I was sleeved may 15th, in the morning, I had a shower the next day and every day after. Made me feel better! And as for food, I have been eating eggs since week 1.5 or day 11 I tried 2 scrabbled eggs. Sat well and was heavenly! But do not eat instant potatoes ever!!!

I showered in the hospital the next day. Got my IV all wet but it happens. The thing I liked about the hospital shower is that it had one of those benches you can sit on while you shower. That helps tremendously. Right after surgery your so weak and tired. U really can't stand for that long. But. Day 2 I was fine. Didn't stay in as long as I normally do. But it worked!

Oh and I'm still on liquids. Today makes 1 week post op for me. So I can't comment on the food question.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
