I was sleeved about 2 Weeks ago. I know i'm supposed to be taking in 48-64 ounces of Fluid. I'm no where near this: ( the most i've been able to do is 39 ounces, but on average i'm only doing about 20 ounces. Should I force myself to drink more. I feel neauseous when I try to drink more. And i'm really worried about causing pain or damage if I force myself. I mentioned it to my Dr and he really didn't make a big deal of this and really no advise. Did any one else have this problem?

I'm 6 days out and the first couple days I had a problem but then my brother had a great idea! The smart Water bottles are 23 oz. he bought one in a vending machine for me and brought it home. I slowly sipped that in the morning the refilled it with regular water and slowly sipped that til the evening. And about an hour and a half before bed I take a regular glass (about 16 oz) of water. That gets me close in range to daily water intake and allows me to go at a slow enough pace that it doesn't hurt or bother me.

It took me a bit to get there. At least 3 - 4 weeks before I was anywhere near 64 oz. It will get easier as your swelling goes down. Do not force yourself. Instead, try other forms of hydration. Water hurt me quite a bit when I was freshly post-op, but I could slowly chomp ice chips all night long. Try some ice, or popsicles or shaved ice. Even different textures can make a big difference.

jessika

you are only couple of weeks post WLS.

good for you on trying to get in all your fluids. :)

there are Newbies that are unable to drink much Water at the beginning

you don't want to drink too much, causing you to feel sick/nautious. take it slow - you will get to the 64 ounces soon enough :)

good luck

kathy

I still don't get in 64 oz! It is so hard. After I was sleeved, to keep from getting dehydrated, I drank G2 gatoraide with my Water. It doesn't have as much sugar and it kept me hydrated. Just make sure you get enough to stay hydrated and you should be fine! :)

I drank Powerade zero and protien drinks to get my fluids, just keep sipping all day long do your best. Dont make your self sick but make sure you do not get dehydrated. my doctor told me that if you cant get your fluids up I could go in and get an IV to help. I never had to do that. Dont let your pee get to dark the clearer the better.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
