Alcoholic Drink Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I'm eight weeks out and have a second date tonight. I avoided alcohol on the first, and haven't had a drink post-op yet, but would like to try sipping on a cocktail tonight (with no intention to finish it!). Looking for recommendations on some of my best options for not going crazy with carbs/sugar, and avoiding cabonation. I was thinking cranberry vodka, but not sure the juice is my best choice.

Thoughts?

I have a drink now and then. I enjoyed a sangria for my birthday dinner, it went down fine! I don't plan on getting drunk and going overboard anytime soon though!

Despite what people think, white or red wine has very low carbs (both are about the same at 4 per glass). Sangria is high in sugar as is cranberry juice. I'd sip a white wine and enjoy it.

Riesling from Germany is lower in alcohol by the way than other whites. So it won't go to your head as fast.

You're having one drink and maybe not even the entire thing if you get tipsy super fast like I do these days. Worry about carbs later and drink what you enjoy! Do the math on what you think you'll order, log it in your food log and go on about your date.

Drink SLOW. I used to drink several drinks preop and now I can feel a real buzz in anywhere from three to five sips.

Actually, a skinny margarita is a sugar free mixer with tequila and triple sec. I've been a few places that have them prominently on their drinks menu (Outback and other chains) but have found a few local Mexican restaurants that have them as well. I have found that I can have a drink or some dinner, but not both! It's definitely a special occasion choice. Skinny Girl, Jose Cuervo, and Margaritaville all sell a skinny premixed margarita in liquor stores. I think I know entirely too much about skinny margaritas!

Have you tried drinking at all yet. I personally really can't. It burns! So if you have the same problem, it might not matter what you order, you might just be looking pretty with it. But if you are ok, try getting a fun flavored vodka (Three olives Loopy, Omg) and water! Lots of ice so it will also Water down a little more. But try drinking something first just to make sure you even can. I used to be a pretty seasoned drinker, but right now it just burns and hurts. I'm 11 weeks out right now.

Try vodka in crystal light heard its yummy and the only sugars you get are from the vodka.

I have Bacardi Lemon' with Water then I add the Crystal Light ice tea- like 70 calories for a shot but I sip in it for a couple hours- its not probably recommended but it's social for a treat!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
