This morning I had to wake up really early to nurse my baby and express milk. When I was putting the bottle in the fridge I figured I would take my first round of pills of the day. I took three small pills (diameter of pencil eraser) and three colace soft-gels. I took them all one at a time with a sip or two of Water in between (but kinda fast admittedly :-/). Right after I went and laid back down to go back to sleep but I couldn't. It felt like a pill/burning feeling in my chest. I tossed & turned and finally decided to get some more water. This helped a little bit (enough for me to finally fall back to sleep), but now I still have that feeling almost 6 hours later plus it hurts when things are going into my tummy (I have only been drinking liquids). Can anybody relate to this? Should I take my antacid?? I'm kinda scared to swallow a pill though

I posted something about this the other day. The instructions from my Surgeon are that I am not allowed to swallow pills for 3-4 months after having surgery. I have to crush my pills. It seems like different Doctors have different things to say about this, but there has to be a reason my Doctor gave these orders. Maybe this is why. Maybe we can't break them down fast enough?

They told me if they were small I could try and if they cause a problem to crush them. I don't usually do my domperidone with colace at the same time (6 small pills is still a lot! :P )I have been taking my pills since 5 days post-op w/out issues... Maybe it was just too much at once?? It is very interesting how much variation there is in each doctor's post-op care!

My surgeon had me swallowing capsules 3 days post-op. Agreed it was just too much at once. There are some meds that you should not crush or capsules that you should not open.

I would say try a tums strip for the acid, keep gettin your Water in - maybe a small tsp. of evoo to prevent further upset, and let's assume you would be better off crushing your pills.

Thing is you may have irritated your tummy, which involves not just acid production but inflammation in the lining of your tummy - you tummy is a part of a huge system of nerves, and they do the strangest, damndest things! Including external facia and lining swelling - "sympathy" swelling - you can get this in the bowels too! the gut is a complex, wonderful thing.

and three colace soft-gels.

My doc and dieticians won't let me take any gel pills. I found some liquid colace that seems to work as well. Celtic

What do I do with this?

I think swallow it unless EVOO enemas are your thing.

I'm sorry. I get inappropriate and smart-assed when tired. Hope it made you laugh anyway.

You would have to watch Rachel Ray. I think she coined EVOO. She bugs me; she's so damned perky.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
