Breast Reduction Before Vsg

Recommended Posts

Hey! Anyone have a breast reduction before vsg? I went from a size or two above a DDD to a D a couple years ago. Also had the laser bra lift. Now I've had VSG and wondering what will occur! Clearly I did it backwards, but never had considered wls at the time of my reduction. In the end, whatever my boobs look like, I'll be happier thinner, so it's all good...but curious nonetheless! I'm quite the Frankenstein between my reduction and vsg scars!

I had a reduction years ago. I am sure that they are going to shrivel up to nothing now. :(

Ha ha...well that's encouraging! ;) at least I got a few good years out of 'em. Suppose I can always get new ones! Would love to hear from someone who's been through it and lost the weight.

Breast reduction actually led me to considering VSG! I went to the plastic surgeon in October for a consult at my biggest (40I/J) and he told me he'd rather not operate on me at that size. He told me about VSG, his daughter had it done. Said I'd be better off losing weight, they'd shrink and "deflate" THEN do a reduction and lift at about 1-1.5 yr out. His biggest reason was that I was at higher risk of complications like losing the nipples and just general surgical risks. So I guess I'll be saving up for part two now that I'm down to a 34G :-)

I have NOT had a lift or any plastics for that matter, and while my cup size didn't really decrease, went from D or DD to still a D or DD, but my band size went from 44 to 36. I've thought about a lift, but not very seriously. I have not decided yes or no to plastics. I'm sure I would have to foot the bill and I kind of feel like my kids need to go to college before I pay for plastics. :P (They are 10 and 11, but it will be here before I know it!) :D

I think you will just have to wait and see where you end up...I think they will probably fare better since you've already had them lifted. I know someone who had a Tummy Tuck after WLS (actually had implants, arms, thighs, the works) and THEN got pregnant unexpectedly. Her tummy looked GREAT all throughout the pregnancy...not sure about now as I haven't seen her since the baby was born in May but I'm guessing her tummy will actually hold up pretty well all things considered.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm hoping the laser bra will serve me well. They basically lift your breasts by creating an internal bra with your own skin...the result is amazing, and I've heard it remains through nursing, so figure I've got a shot! But you're right...just going to have to see what happens. If it works out, at least I'll have one less plastic to consider, lol, and the benefit of having it covered by insurance when I had it done a few yrs ago.

I had a reduction from a DDD to a small C (my choice) 15 years ago. Upon weight gain, they are back to a DDD, just looking straight instead of at my toes, now. VSG wls scheduled for 8/23. I have a feeling my post reduction small C is gonna be even smaller when all Is said and done. Curious to see what the boob future holds, as well!

I had a reduction & lift in 2007. I went from a 44F to a 44D. Now that I have lost a lot of weight they are shriveled little tube socks and are deflated looking. They look ok but the volume is definitely gone, the lift is still ok, sort of. Makes me tremble to think what I would look like if I had never had that first lift and reduction. These girls would be knocking my knees!

When the doc refers me for plastics, I am going to see if another lift will help me stay a full C cup. If not, I will most likely consider implants. A full C is all I am hoping for or want. Funny but I used to hate my breasts. NEVER would I have thought I could miss them. Right now I am in a 36C. But I could probably fill out a B better.

I actually had breast implants 10 years ago and then gained all my weight so after surgery I'm looking to have them taken out. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm tired of big boobs!

I had a breast lift after a previous significant weight loss. I always had saggy boobs, since young due to chronic yoyo diets. Now they are perky, but big at 42DD+, i figure when I get sleeved, I will deflate and sag again. Since this will be a permanent solution ( with hard work and support) i will likely get implants to a D if they get smaller than that ( i am 5'8" and can carry a D)

I would love to hack these monsters off. I hate them. Even when I lost weight on various diets, I still couldn't wear many shirt styles without looking like a hooker. I'm going to wait until after surgery and see what happens before I make any certain decisions but I'm pretty sure I know what I want for Christmas next year!

I had a reduction in 2003. Went from DD to B. I had a kid and gained 40 lbs, boobs did not change. However, with this last gain of 40lbs I am now a full C. I am thinking I will do a lift after VSG. They still look decent, but who knows what they will be after the VSG.

I am actually getting ready for plastics and I am thinking about getting the lazer lift with some implants....was wondering if you could tell me more about your expierence with it?

What is a laser bra lift? I'm going to need stuff done after my vsg. I'm scheduled for sept 4th. With a 44H I'm sure I'm going to have to do something with my boobs after I lose all my weight!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
