Someone Explain This To Me Please

How in the hell do you gain three pounds overnight? I had a two week stall and finally droped four pounds when I weighed on Tuesday morning (yes I got on the scales twice to make sure I read it right), so this morning I thought maybe check this one more time since the last two weeks were horrible with no loss at all. Yesterday I had a Protein Shake, 1/2 of a pork chop maybe a quarter cup, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and Mousaka for dinner, maybe 8 oz and yest it was to much had the worst pain I have ever felt in my life andmy GERD kicked in real good, but I hadn't had it in forever and I love eggplant. I had three sugar free ice pops throughout the day as well. I did not get in all my Water though because of the pain asscoiated with dinner.

I have been fanatical about what I have been eating and I walk almost every single day no matter what, last night was not my usual walk but up and down the street on the local main st of town. Its about a quarter mile from one end to the other and I made sure to get as many trips up and down the road as possible before the rains came.

Its bad enough to be losing so slow but now it seems that I am doing something wrong or I am just doomed to be a fat cow forever at this point.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

Yes, it happens. For me, the culprit is usually not drinking enough Water. Make sure you get your Water in every day. You could also be close to that time of the month and, sometimes, when you add in more exercise, your weight loss slows down for a bit. Keep following your plan and you will continue to lose weight.

BTW, I don't care how big you are, you are NOT a fat cow. You also will not be the only person for whom this surgery didn't work. Give yourself a pat on the back and don't let that scale rule your life! It's just a number!

Check how your clothes are fitting, take your measurements and compare them as you lose weight. The scale is a liar. A better indicator is how do you feel and how do your clothes fit! :)

I had 450 calories and I walked int he pool 1-1/2 hours, I walked an hour and it says I gained 1 pound from yesterday, 2 days ago it said I gained 4 pounds and the next day it was gone plus a pound. Water weight, gas, bloating, etc. sodium can all be factors.

The scale messed with my head this morning...I gave it a whopping minute of being ticked off, then I let it go. I can feel more bones today than I did 3 days ago, I can visually see that I am losing weight, I noticed today my stomach is a little more bloated than it was yesterday so I have some bloating and I'm not going potty as much as I normally do. It's also hot....heat can cause Water retention.

Keep charting your foods on your myfitnesspal or whatever you use to keep an eye on the carbs or the sodium, and let it go. I really have a goal of 199 by July 18th and with my ups - no losses, downs and ups and barely downs I realize I may not be able to do it, but I'm not going to get myself too worked up because it's just a number, if I keep doing what I am suppose to be doing I will hit it, maybe not in the timeline I hoped for though, but it will happen.

I got used to losing 1-1.8 pounds every 2 days, that's over now, now the real work begins.

Well fortunately I no longer get that time of the month. One good thing about being "older" :D

It's just so frustrating for me. Most of the people who knew about the surgery gave me a hard time about it and now I get to hear "Well how much have you lost this week?, with a anarky attitude all the time. Of course another girl at work who had the surgery is moving right along down the scale and they are all cooing over her so I guess I'm not measuring up to her but she had a plication AND a band done at the same time.

Should I adjust some part of the diet? I know to little of carbs can stall you and I am keeping them way low.

Can the heat be playing a part?

I do take a diuertic everyday so I wouldn't think it would be Water weight and if it is there is something else going on.

It sucks to work in health care and not having anyone to discuss this with. The surgeons office can't answer me and I don't see my primary til September again and he just jokes around and wants to discuss work (he has patients where I work).

I do have a "friend" who has a masters in nutrition but we aren't close by any means and its a male so I'm not sure I would be comfortable talking to him.

I need this to work I need to get off the meds I am on. Insulin made me gain 70 pounds so it is imparative for me to get off it ASAP, plus I want to be healthy.

I think it would be a good idea to talk to a nutritionist. They are better equipied to give you some ideas of other approaches you can take to help rev up your metabolism. Did you see one before your surgery? If not, you do want to find one that has experience with bariatric patients.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
