Recommended Posts

Quick question... Anyone have facial hair due to PCOS and have the symptoms of that (or any/all) die down or go away completely after weight loss?? Thanks

Great question! I have PCOS and even laser treatments didn't get rid of my excess hair! Hoping this surgery will help with ovulation. My reproductive endocrinologist is actually the one that recommended the surgery. I'd love to hear stories from others with PCOS!

In fact I saw my RE today 8 days post up and he was happy because I had wls and he said see you next july 3,2013 so you can transfer your last 2 frozen embryos. he said you might not even need any more fertility treatments maybe just on your own lol

Wow! That's great! My RE didn't suggest surgery but the WL will definitely help. Maybe only have to try clomid. Glad to hear the insulin resistance is better. I'm also diabetic and can't wait for that to disappear!

My dr told me to give your self one year and exactly on my first surgiversary I conceived and I just had a healthy boy without any effort or treatment.this surgery really worked for me......being an Asian me and my husband were under terrible pressures for getting pregnant from family side both mine and hubby's.but now every things just fine although I had a hard time through out my nine months but I guess they were worth waiting for.

Oh, this is very encouraging!! Our last round I was having to take 400units of gonal-f each night and boy did that get expensive!!! RE said that after weight loss, it probably won't take that much medicine : ) I'm also diabetic and can't wait to get rid of that monster! It is the other reason I really wanted this surgery (actually there are soooo many reasons to do it).

Hi I am 3 weeks out also wanting a baby! I have pcos. I've lost 22 lbs since surgery and the facial hair is still there! I got my period on the day of surgery and it lasted two weeks. I want to wait a year before trying. Good luck to you!

I have PCOS am 7.5 months out. My facial hair is still there, but I feel it's not as dark. My periods are still really heavy but they're more regular.

I had PCoS as well..I had my hysterectomy before surgery and my hair in my chin is still there even after two laser treatments. I will have to have more laser treatments to remove it permanently. I think once it's there..it's there..or at least in my case..it's there..

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
