Try swimming as an alternative. If the soles of your feet hurt like they are on fire when you first get out of bed in the morning it is likely plantar fasciitis. I have had bouts of it and wouldn't wish it on anyone, weight loss helps immensely as does trying to take it easy and stay off your feet until your soles heal up a while. My GP has tried me on various meds but they are mostly palliative and it is WL that really helps. Go and see your doctor. There are also various exercises that may help ( they do for some but didn't for me) . The first 30 lbs I took off made all the difference.

I've had plantar fascities and torn achilles heal - latter is worse! For it I did acupuncture and Arnica gel. Went to podiatrist, he wanted me to wear huge boot that just was not practical - for me. Actually, staying off of it for a while helps as much as anything, it just takes time to heal.

For both ailments, there are splint things you can wear at night that help some. I think there is a catalog called Foot Source or something like that; google websites that specialize or even Amazon carries some stuff.

Also, with torn achilles heal, you need special tennis shoes from now on that provide stabilization. I hurt mine doing Zumba! But also common with basketball and tennis, etc. (quick sideways motion).

It's hard to self-diagnose foot problems!

I had the same problems. Mine wasnt planters fascitias. Instead I had heel spurs. I saw the xrays and sure enough I had a tiny piece of triangle shaped bone off my heel. I had to ditch all my cheap shoes and wear orthotics. I slept with a special brace called the straussberg sock ( you can order online). I had two cortisone shots and ultrasound therapy. It honestly took a year but it is better now

i do know physical therapy will help. I had Plantars F 2 years ago and toe streaches really helped me the pediatrist gave me. I do them in bed laying down at night, flexing and curling, back and forth. Also rolling a tennis ball or can on the ground with your foot while sitting helps too. Online I think they have posted exercises for heel injury streaching exercises. best of luck! it toook me 9 months to get over the injury.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
