I've heard good things about Dr Alexander, I heard he's really good with revision surgeries. And I pass his office every time I visit my bariatric surgeon, dr Nirmal Jayaseelan, who I've had well over 5 years, he's removing my band and will be converting me to the gastric sleeve in two weeks, on July 5th :-)

Good luck with your surgery!

Thank you! I really like him but have had some issues with his staff.

My hubby used him for RNY but yes, his staff, namely his insurance person/scheduler/prescription person (Ann)...terrible.

The day before the surgery, she was supposed to call in a bowel prep that morning. My husband waited over two hours and 3 phone calls (at the pharmacy) because she forgot to call in the prescription. The bowel cleanse had to be started by a certain time that day and the clock was ticking.

Then they tried to call later that day....around 5...and ask my husband to reschedule his surgery after he had already turned in his FMLA forms and everything else. My husband asked for our co-insurance payment back and told them he'd walk. All of sudden, they could do the surgery. Then, they told us to be at the hospital at 6 am. We get there to find out they rescheduled him for 10. We sat in the waiting room for hours only for my husband to be called back and wait in pre-op well over an hour-and-a-half.

They also use a crappy hospital and it was like herding cattle (I think it's owned by a group of bariatric doctors like Alexander and Barker). Literally at least 20 people in pre-op holding all laying on beds and you see your surgeon come in, take someone back, operate on them, and then come and get the next person. Like an assembly line.

My advice is to stay on top of Ann and recheck your insurance on the matter. After it was all said and done, we found out that our insurance was not going to cover what they said they would based on.....you know what? Feel free to PM me for that whole story because...well....

I used Dr Wade Barker for my sleeve and was very happy with his services! I havent met a staff member yet who has had a sour attitude...they have all been so kind and helpful. I guess everyone has different experiences but mine has been great! I had my surgery Aug 7th in Forest Park Medical Center off of North Central Expressway. The hospital was gorgeous and everything ran pretty much on schedule. I think i went back 15min later then my surgery scheduled time but that is nothing. They did say that sometimes it takes longer then an hour depending on the patient so i was prepared for them to run somewhat late. Overall i give them 5stars

I had my surgery there on July 30th. It's very nice place but I felt like I didn't get the best care. You definitely need your spouse or a friend there to help you out! I think they were short staffed when I was there so that may have been part of it. Good luck to you!

Can I ask what your life has been like since your surgery?? I'm concerned about the quality of life I'm going to have...(dumping, diahrrea, acid reflux etc) Also, does the surgery leave a scar?

My first week wasn't so great but it gradually got better and now I am four weeks post op and I feel normal again! I have lost 22 lbs in four weeks! I'm sticking to my diet but I am having a hard time getting in 600 calories because I am never hungry! I call the nut every other day and they are awesome and will help you out. Yes, I do have scars but they are minimal. You will do great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
