Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

had my surgery yesterday. Surgery was at 7:15 i was discharged to go home at two. Did have lots of gas pain and nausea. Don't know which was worse probably nausea. Took some phengren at home and wanted to throw up but jut kept swallowing and everything stayed down. Drinking everything is a breeze! Everything stays down fine! Im so happy! Walking really does help! as much as you want to lay down if you walk I promise it heals you. I was feeling pretty bad all day but by 8 I was feeling great because of all the walking. Today I am feeling super! Only pain is from the incisions and i am taking percocet for that and it is managing well. Taking Vitamins and pepcid starting today and it is fine! ALready drank a Protein Drink this morning and is also tolerated well! Do not fret you guys you can and will do this! Prayers and well wishes for all! XOXO

Congratulations to you let's do this. Thank you for the update, makes me a littles nervous for Monday July 9 ( same as u nustyle). Have had such a struggle with liquid diet. How are you able to swallow pills? They keep adding pills to my plan and I already take a few normally. Now adding the pain meds, anti stone, prilosec and anti nausea I'm looking at close 10 pills.... That's kinda freaking me out. Anyone else worried about swallowing pills after???

It just seems like all these pills and Vitamins will be hard to keep down and I already hate pills too. I had to do an upper Gi and drink all that stuff, I couldnt stop gagging, I'm a wus when it comes to taking things. Also, they ordered me liquid pain reliever and I'm thinking " why do I need liquid pain med when I'm gonna be taking 10 pills a day, what's another pill ?" anyone know why the liquid pain med?

The vitamins should all be liquid or chewable. The only pill I will have to take is the ulcer one for 6 months. They will give you liquid pain reliever because it's safer than pill form where it can cause a blockage in your new stomach. She also said if you have to take pills they can't be thicker than a pencil. Anything bigger and you either have to grind it to a powder or if it's a capsule break it open.

Just had my surgery July 2nd. The pain at first was sort of unbearable to me but I made sure I got the pain killer every 4 hours So I managed. What I haven't been able to do is get a full nights rest and now that I'm home it doesn't seem to be coming because I just can't seem to get comfortable. I started liquids yesterday and just have to get used to "sipping" all day like the Dr told me to. Was able to pass gas twice today but I know I still have more to go... Can't wait for that release. Good luck to everyone on their procedures

The vitamins, Calcium and pain reliever are either chewable or liquid. But the anti nausea, anti reflux, anti Gaul stones? Plus my normal Bp, thyroid, Bc and anti depress are not liquid. I'll have to call tomorrow.

Ask for liquid meds... my doc gave me liquid codeine for the pain and (gulp) suppositories for nausea and chewable vitamins. No pills whatsoever.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
