Nominated For Transformation Contest At The Gym!

Recommended Posts

I was approached by a trainer at my gym who recognized me from when I was large. He asked me how much I've lost (100+lbs). He gave me a big high five and disappeared. He came back with a flyer and said he'd like to enter me in this contest. I'm pretty excited about it, but my mom thinks I should tell them I've had the sleeve. I think 2 half marathons ( 3 after next week) are more than enough! I've worked hard to lose this weight. And I'm working that much harder to keep it off. What do you think?

Awesome! I wouldn't nemtion it unless you want to. You have worked damn hard to "transform" your body and you deserve the recognition. If they specifically ask on the registration form, I'd be honest, but I wouldn't necessarily volunteer the information. Good luck with the contest.

I won a contest at my gym....it was for who could improve the most on situp's, pushup's, squats, bench press, and rowing over the period of 6 weeks. I won 3 months of free membership. I didnt tell them about my surgery. Its none of their business! :)

I don't think they would expect everyone to disclose all details regarding their weight loss. Whether it was Weight Watchers, Atkins, prescription appetite suppressants, etc. my point being NOBODY losses 100 ponds and transforms their body easily- regardless of the tools they use. Enter the contest and win if you can (and I hope you do!). This is what I, myself, believe.

That being said, non surgical people do think we've taken the "easy" way out. And I've been told that by saying I've lost my weight through smaller portion sizes and working out is a lie of omission. That hurts. The only thing I've left out is that I had surgery to help with my portion sizes.

I still think, for your situation, (just based on body transformation) I wouldn't say anything about the surgery. I mean really-the question (contest) is-did your body transform more than other bodies, right?

Go with you gut and good luck with the contest!

I say go for it... the transformation is about your body... not everyone who loses 100lb and then some can run like you do!! You've worked so hard to gain your fitness... you deserve it! I say go for it... I agree with Nancy, the sleeve is a tool and how we chose to use it is individual... good luck! x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
